It was a chilly day here, -18 when I got up, windy all day, but temp was finally up to about -8 by the time I finished my shift and headed home. Still warming up. I may have overexerted myself dragging a decent sized buck out of the ditch so the street department could reach it. Fresh meat goes to the wolves at the zoo, if the person who hit it doesn't want to claim it. Driver didn't stick around after calling in.
The drag would have been easier if the snow weren't hip-deep where he'd crawled to. Couldn't have guessed based on his tracks, but a few steps off the roadway and I was basically wading in toward him. Had a heck of a time catching my breath afterward, been dealing with the after-effects of whatever Covid variant we were dealing with last week.
Got home to a drooping mailbox, received an unexpected package from a much warmer climate. Very much appreciated!
