Like Bret, our Thanksgiving Celebratory meal with family will be today. Worked on the Hover Craft trailer yesterday, removing the wheels, greasing the studs and reinstalling the wheels. Because the unit gets towed in Winter, the endless salt and mag-chloride eat everything. I have poor choices for washing and rust is prevalent.
Smoked three deer hearts for 2 1/2 hours then pressure cooked them for 30 minutes. The whole house smelled like a smoke house just from the pressure cooking, and there is still residual smoky smells this morning. The hearts are fantastic, I wish I had 20 more! To think hunters leave these in the gut pile is distressing.
Speaking of gut piles. The four guys had a Hunter's meal of fast fried nubby buck liver and onions on Sunday and again, what a shame most of those livers are left in the woods. If nothing else, those people with dogs are wasting a dog treat that is without peer as far as getting a dog to your bidding. Cube the liver, dust lightly with garlic powder and dry it down enough to store unrefrigerated. Use a low oven temperature with the door propped open or a dehydrator. The lady I know that does this shows dogs and people constantly ask her what her dog treats are. I know her husband and son will grab one now and then for a quick snack. Take a look at the old Hanna-Barberra cartoon dog Snuffles and you will see a typical reaction.
Anyone here clever enough to put a brief Snuffles episode under K-9 humor? He's from Quick Draw McGraw which seems a bit appropriate here.
