Here's a thing about pain meds .
My oldest boy went in the same day with his sister to get wisdom teeth pulled .
She's talking to them all the way through and 45 mins in recovery she's ready to go get a burger . She had 150% of the normal 108# female dosage of the white hazey days stuff . The son at 140# got the standard hit and an hour in recovery was still weaving across the driveway to our car . He slept all the way home had 2 jello cups and went to bed for 14 hours basically the same deal slept most of the day after and might have eaten enough to have passed for his usual breakfast. Sunday morning he pops up like a spring dandelion and doesn't know why it's Sunday or how it got that way . The 2.5/250 Tylenol 3s put him to sleep . Ocxy won't touch my daughter , aspirin works on life aches........ Sometimes Alieve will get her 3-4 hours when the compression back injuries are really howling.

Me ? Codine does exactly what it is supposed and I've never been inclined to take it longer than needed for an injury.
Ibuprofen and even the Tylenol blends don't do anything for me at normal dosages . When I broke all the ribs and stuff a while back the good iv stuff quit working about mid day the day after , the 5/500 hydrocodone didn't leave 45 minute gaps in relief . Most days by the time the breakfast aspirin is beaten down it's bed time anyway .

Sorry. Excuse my rude sense of humor.
But when I see that, My mind races back to a picture my mom had. That I destroyed.Of when I was 16 on a mini bike.

May be fun, but don't let your friends see you riding it or anyone take pictures.

My mind also keeps going back to the dumb and dummer, Aspen scooter ride scene.
:)
LOL Mitty...I do get your sense of humor :p
I don't embarrass easily, LOL.

I've had this Honda Ruckus for 8 years and have drove it around my small town (pop 5K) where I've lived for 30 yrs, where most people know me. I've put about 4000 miles on the clock, pretty much all in town. Most people comment on how fun it looks to drive. I offer them to take it for a spin, so far, no one has taken me up on the offer.
.
BTW, the Dumb & Dumber scene was a minibike and a mod'd minibike at that ...Not anywhere near a Ruckus...when compared to a minibike, a Ruckus is like a Cadillac :p

Wife and I are planning a roadtrip now that we don't have to worry about finding hotels that will take a dog and the whole issue of leaving a dog in a car on a hot day. I spent the day tracing a roadtrip that will be basically a civil war battlefield trip starting here in the Albany area with the first stop at Gettysburg. We have been there once before, but had the dog with us and came close to sprinting thru the museum/visitor's center. So, this time we are going to take our time. Then we'll continue south through Sharpsburg, Manassas, Fredericksburg, and onto Richmond. Richmond is full of sites and museums and Petersburg is only a half hour south. From there to Appomattox, a stop at Lynchburg to visit Jack Daniels then start heading north thru New Market, Middletown and Winchester. Making a side trip to break up the long ride home by visiting the Corning Glass Museum. This is for the wife. She's a glass fusion artist and used to do stained glass. I'm hoping there is a bunch of stuff on the making of glass to keep me interested. We figure somewhere from 5 to 7 days. Good way to start spring.

I hate these Narcos as well. Having been prescribed many thru the years. I was always concerned about addiction. But for me at least they dont work as good as many proclaim. They only slightly relieve discomfort. When I no longer "need" them I get that euphoric disconnected feeling that I do not like and I stop taking them.

I was prescribed Oxy and Dilaudid for this knee surgery. I used both but the RX was for 33% "reg" doseage. So I could adjust as needed. They never seemed to make me comfortable so it was easy to discontinue use.

Ask your doc about Tramadohl. Its supposed to be a synthetic and non habit forming. Combined with Tylenol offers me some relief.

Pain is something I have lived with a very very long time. It seems ta always be there.

CW
Tramadol is indeed habit forming. Trust me, I have seen plenty of abuse of it.

We need to differentiate between tolerance and addiction. Idont get concerned about addiction until I see increasing doses, “lost medications”, early refills, and other behaviours that lead me to believe the medication is being taken in doses outside the prescribed range.
Opiates have a place, just need to be used with care.

Tramadol sucks.
Codeine doesn't kill the pain it just makes you not care that you hurt.
lot of muscle relaxers are the same way.

i once had a doctor give me valium for my back.
i was back in his office within @3 hrs. asking if i was supposed to take all of them at once or if they didn't work for a day or two or what.
he was like you took all 30 of them?
well no,, i only took 2, waited an hour then took a couple more, then took 4 more when that didn't do anything ,, decided i better get drove down here when nothing happened, maybe you need to have them tested or something?

If your road trip comes near to Milton, WV
you might want to checkout Blenko...they have tours of the factory and a glass museum.

This morning, the City is gonna stop by to replace the Water meter.
There is a long story to this...I'll save you a bunch of time reading by not typing in all the back story.
It should only be a 15 min job, but I expect a huge mess and a all day adventure for the City employee...and me :(

Well, the boy from the City did an excellent job...in 30 minutes.
I got no complaints.
I thought sure it was gonna be a disaster...you know 100 yr old house plumbing and all.

Upon my arrival home a pretty nifty trade had arrived.

100 pieces of yellow boxed Winchester Western new unprimed 358 Win .
A guy asked if if anyone loaded for it . I told him I did , in further communication he offered that he had some if I needed them . I have 250 converted FC 308 so I didn't NEED them but it would be nice to have a box or 2 of correct Head Stamp. I feel a bit sheepish currently available it runs from 77¢ ea to just $48/50 ......... I guess I'm going to have to get busy filling out my end .......

if your dangerously low on primers i could alleviate some of your mental burden there.

caught up on a bunch of stuff i DVR'd the last week or two.
you can sure zip through a lot of stuff when the commercials are chopped out.

i gotta rotate the seed pods, the ones near the window are struggling to come up as good as the inside ones.
i was gonna do it today but one of the boards on the shelf where i have some of my cast bullets stored started to cave in, i had to take a bunch of them off and find some thing else to kind of brace it with.
i would have cut a new heavier piece of wood to replace the shelf's [i already bought it, and it's sitting right there] but both of my saws are stuck out in the wheeler shed, and the saw horses are both buried under about 4' of snow.

Wife texted me.. My 452 sizer came in the mail! I found a used die, and punch.
Minus the red plastic cup, on flee bay.
I have Three Lee sizing cups already anyway. Cost me $16 after shipping.

Was invited to a rain or shine, private clay pigeon shoot tomorrow. $5 range fee. Plus ammo cost.
$50 entry. Straight elimination, no call. 4 Identical club guns. Club ammo. Top shooter takes all entry money. So 40 or so people. About 2 grand up for grabs. Thinking about it.
Not a gambling man so, maybe just stay home. Sleep, make some stew and then some bullets.

I sew. I don't make clothes, but I can fix them. Most of my sewing is fixing leather stuff or making leather stuff. I have a very vintage Singer leather patcher that is very handy.

My Mom was a seamstress and had a business in our basement. She did alterations and made most of her own clothes. She made dresses for special customers if they begged her. She made a cocktail dress for a Sears VP's wife that was amazing. She never charged enough for her work. Anyway, whenever the family went shopping, there was almost always a stop at a fabric store. Every shopping center (didn't call them malls back then) had a fabric store. Now, they are all gone. Jo Ann Fabrics is about it around here. With all the folks born during the depression on the wrong side of the grass now, I suspect that making clothing at home is terminally ill hobby. I like sewing. There is something very satisfying about it. Bought my wife a nice Husqvarna machine for Christmas one year. She's never touched it. I use it a lot to make or fix stuff. The new machines are amazing. But, it is sad to see fabric stores disappear. I'm sure if it was a mom & pop store and had that following, it would still be in business. But some bean counter at HQ had to find a way to save money and probably looked at all the stores they had and this one had the worst numbers so it got cut. That's the corporate world we live in. Big chains move in, put all the locally owned stores out of business with their discount prices and then, when they run the corporation into the ground, they go belly up and leave all the consumers with their thumbs up their patoots.

I imagine someone could open a fabric store in your area, Brett and do decent. It would take some major capital to get started, though. But once they got going and the word got out, they'd probably do well. But the risk would always be there that another chain would see their success and drop a store in the area and since consumers are about a loyal as politicians, they'll all flock to the chain store to save a buck and the other place will go belly up. :headbang:
Pretty rough for any small business to open and make a go of it up here these days. It happens but I'd guess the failure rate is in the 75% range. What we do see is a lot of seasonal places operated out of a shed or garage. One lady has a "Christmas" store that's dedicated to nothing but middle to higher end Christmas stuff and I'm told she does really well while being open only 4 months of the year. She found a niche and made it work. There are 2 Maple Syrup places within 45 miles of each other, but they're only "really open" from January to maybe early April. The rest of the year they do the occasional class or open house, but that's it. Of course a new stainless evaporator is in the tens of thousands of dollars and they're often custom bult to fit an old building/base, so that's in play too. But to open a "Jo Ann" clone? The floor space alone would cost a fortune. Walmart probably get most of what Jo Anns customer base was and the rest hit the online places I'd think.

3 drs appts in 3 days. I've lost some time somehow! Yesterday was more minor surgery. Might be minor but it sure winds up sore!

Started raining here and everything outside is glare ice she tells me. I am NOT ALLOWED to even try to go outside until she gets Matt to put Sure Foot (crushed marble) down on the walk ways. I'm just saying "Yes dear" on that one. I have no desire to take a tumble at all!!!

Daughter sent me pics of fish she caught in the pond. Some pretty good cats and bass. They tossed them back as spawn isn't over yet.
Codine - the dot on Mil pill. Sick bay Doc said the corpsman almost killed me with them.
Got the Sightmark reflex replacement for the BO pistol today, surprised it's close to boresighted. Got a 3x magnifier to try also. Not much eye relief though. Nothing wrong with the old one except the 3 watch cells are a pain and only last a few hrs. This one is a single 800 mahr battery.

New hobby - photography. Played at it for years, but got semi-serious this time (older/disposable income/not buying sports equipment and keep cars running for 5 boys, and grandkid expenditures haven't gotten too serious - yet!).

Anyway, live in the county/back yard butts up against ag fields (for now). Been trying to get pics of some hawks. Saw one this morning in the field/out I go. Didn't get much worth of the hawk, but my "two buddies" the local prowling 'yotes were walking the fence/woodline (at 8:30 AM! - they aren't spooked by much; I have them on game cam at my fence corner at 7:30 AM for about 5 minutes!) Have to look - hopefully I got some ok pics. 840mm lense is great to "reach out!"

Digital or Film?
I ask because film is making a comeback, at least in MN.
There use to be formerly expensive 35mm film equipment on the second hand markets for pennies (maybe even half-pennies) on the dollar. But what is old, have become new again.
