In this case, Brad's Brown Lube, lol. My logic was that the grease melts at a lot higher temp, so I melted it by itself, let it cool a little, and then added in melted beeswax. It took enough heat, well over 300°, to get it to melt, and it did smoke and turn brown. With the temp any lower, it wouldn't melt. However, it does not smell burnt. Evidentially, mixing everything together, letting the wax melt into the grease, must lower the melting temp of the grease as it mixes. Lesson learned. It'll probably be years before I need another batch though. There's a side of me that wants to throw this out and start over, but I bet it will work just fine.
