.221 Fireball

So I bought a pound of Hodgdon CFE BLK awhile back to try in the 300blk
I had 45pcs of .221 ready to load so I thought I'd give this powder a try.
I'll be loading the 40gr Hornady Vmax with a near max charge of 20.5gr for almost 3,500fps.
Great speed with lower pressure than a lot of powders.

I`m interested.
I just bought some to try in my 221.
Let us know how it works.
Gonna chronograph those loads?....dale

so far I have only heard of one person actually using it in a 223.
I'm using it in the 250 savage AI. and find it to be a favorable powder especially in the small caliber larger case rounds.

Being it has the burn rate that it does, I wonder if it has very many other applications?

308 case size would be a good one.
it's right back there with H-335, blc-2, and H-380.
I'd almost call it a blc-2fe or C-3 as it were.
I have seen loads all up and down the scale with those powders.
you could run it in the 25-20 with a mag primer and cast bullets, and then go all the way up to the 30-06 and find good loads.
I haven't tried it with any reductions yet but if it behaves like AA-2230 does [high temps, max pressure loads, and hot ignition is the only thing I have found to be a combination that shows any deviation so far, change the hot ignition out and it's good again] there is a ton of possibility's for it.

Dale I haven't worked with the CFE-Black.
so anything I could give you would be based on data from a similar powder/s.
probably starting with 4227 data to be on the safer side.
