My advice is always start with what you have. You aren't looking for barn burners from what you say, you might be fine if you get the load balanced out. If not, juicing an alloy a little isn't super expensive or difficult. Gotta shoot them and see!

Whereabouts are you located? We're under a storm warning here in Northern NY State too.

I'm here in Towanda, Pa. A little south of Waverly,ny. We got close to 4-5 inches yesterday. Just glad you aren't in Buffalo.

@johnnyjr , your BHN10-12 with powder coat and gas check sounds like a very relevant alloy to use. I have a similar alloy myself. Though I mostly use it for low power stuff, it has worked well with jacketed load data in the .308 win, with PC and GC.

10-12 after aging ought to be good for maximum power if gas checked, sized, and then powder coated and sized again to about a thousandth over groove diameter. I've pushed .22s and 6.5mms to near pressure limits with 1.5 MOA reliable groups from a variety of rifles. The only real caveat is make sure you use a neck sizing die so as not to squeeze the neck tighter than you need, uniform necks and lightly bellmouth with a cast bullet neck expanding die, and preferably use a true, in-line bullet seating die. Aim for about .0015" neck "tension" on the bullet (interference fit) when you're done. Seat the bullet just a titch off the lands or ball seat. You can full-length body size and neck bushing size at once with an RCBS GMM die or use a Lee collet neck die adjusted to not fully size the neck all the way (just as much as you need), or any number of things. What NOT to do is full length size brass in a standard die and then stretch the neck back out to cast bullet size with a fat expander since that promotes off center necks that don't let you get the best accuracy from cast bullets.

Both of my kids, my son's wife and her 3 sisters, and my sister went to college in Buffalo. Yes, it does get a bit of snow, but it varies a great deal depending on which part of Buffalo we're discussing. Erie, PA, for ex., gets even more of that unmentionable item (said as I getting ready to head south to FL for the winter).

I was thinking more of the ridiculously high crime rate. Snow I can deal with, people killing kids...that I can't get past.
