6mm TCU

Good morning all

I have found and purchased a T/C Custom shop barrel chambered in 6mm tc/u

I have wanted one for a while. I have had a 7 tc/u and liked it. I considered another, but wanted a 7/30 Waters "more" so I have them now and feel I have something that can do same job plus a lil.
I have a bunch of light .243 bullets and using a 223 case its a cheap case so its a natural outlet. Plus its rumored ta be quite accurate. So, who doesn't like accurate firearms!??

Has anyone been down this road? Do ya still have one?

Searching for information and experiences. I have never had this caliber.

Tis not a rumor. :)

Today I searched my brass..

I found a couple hundred SPEER cases I picked up at a local Police shoot back about 2010. I picked up a bunch of good brass!! In that was/were these 223 Cases.
So I ran all thru tumbler
Then 6mm Mandrel
Then De capped
Then Swaged the pockets

Next is annealing and sizing when I get dies.

I also need check my supply of 6mm cast Bullets. Cause this needs to al be fire formed.

I finished 250+ cases tonight.

I have found a set of Dura Chrome Dies off ebay. Waiting on seller to accept my offer!

Barrel shipped and post office says this week!!

I have rings that will fit supplied base. Im going to mount the older Burris 7x std optic. It should be a good match to ballistics & trajectory of this cartridge.

Watch those cases. They will have loose primer pockets after a couple loads if not already. They are the same as the FC everyone screams about.

The Speers I have Tomme? (Are ya speaking to me?)

The brass seems very well made. I have re formed the pockets NOT cut them. They have nice tight pockets right now. I do not intend on hot rodding this. I anticipate a longer life from them.

I received notice from USPS @ 13:00 today it was at the local HUB. Usually... If I hear this before 6pm I have package next day.

Now, (we all have seen) USPS has been very good at fudging things up and sending packages across the country on a leisurely jaunt...
;) :headbang: hope, This doesn't occur.

Yep. All the ones that I have had that had a primer crimp they loosened up real fast. Most of my 223 I use for my AR are upper loads but no where near a max.
Did you cut the pockets or did you wage them? I just loaded up about 20 of them tonight because the barrel looks like it'll be here tomorrow. And the primer seated very nicely.

I use LC cases for my 6X45. Normally get 4 to 5+ firings out of them. Loading 26+ grains IMR8208 pushing a 95gr Sierra. It shoots pretty competitive with the other chamberings on the 600yd line astonishing some of the 6BR shooters. I've not tried any of the commercial brass with it, LC usually having the highest water capacity. Think it's LC06 had the highest capacity of any I've seen.
IMR8208 made that cartridge come alive, haven't tried it but Benchmark is another I'd like to look at with the surprising results some of the Palma shooters are getting in .308.

A brass option. Go with 222 Rem Mag, Nosler carries it. Expand the neck and push the shoulder back to where you need it, trim, load, and bang.
Yes, LC and 223/5.56 brass is less costly, but there is prep. Once had a 7 TCU, played hell trying to get the headspace set with x1 fired brass. When my wife wanted a 14" 6 TCU, I used 222 Rem Mag brass, zero issues.

So yesterday was musical scopes. As the 7x was a scope I had on hand. The 2x I also had seemed underwhelming for the 6tcu. Well it resulted in 4 being moved and that 7x going back on the shelf.

Down On the bench the 20 6tcu's I made up wont fit in the chamber. Grrr. I tried a case I made and same issue!! I know OAL is short but seems shoulder bump may be the issue. Im gonna check this AM as Id love ta shoot this later today.
The 25/20 I have plenty loaded as well as a partial box of factory to shoot.

Video soon on all.

I shot both of these yesterday. WOW WOW! OTH are gonna be shooters!!!

The 25/20 awoke with hand loads. But shot well with factory.

The 6tcu was only shot with a light start load with a JUST cast 95g bullet but shows super promise!!!
