A Merry Christmas Present To A Good Home

A Merry Christmas present to a good home:
An older (ancient easily) Lyman two-cavity 358311 mould. It was given to me as my first mould by my very best friend, reloading mentor and gun purchasing enabler who died earlier this year, and in the spirit of Christmas (thank you S Mac for the inspiration!) I want to pass it on.

I cast only enough bullets for testing with the Ruger Blackhawk, probably less than 200, and that was eight or nine years ago so I know neither the bullets’ size nor uniformity, but .360"-.361" jogs a very dim memory.

Qualifiers in all fairness to the new owner:
The block faces and cavities appear to be in good condition, though one cavity has some pitting, and there is inconsequential pitting elsewhere on the blocks, the sprue plate is the thicker Lyman replacement and its screw is the longer replacement, the original 10X32 slotted head set screw was replaced with a 1/4X20 Allen head screw. This would make an excellent starter mould for a new caster.

I don’t have a mould box, but will include the original warped sprue plate and its original screw, and the original set screw if wanted.

Send me a PM with your mailing address. I will pay the postage.

Michael

The mould has been spoken for, and Santa will soon be delivering a Christmas present to Emmitt.

Get much use out of it, sir. I have a feeling my friend will smile down on you every time you fill a cavity.

just so he knows what he is getting.
the 311 is your classic 160gr. round nose 38 caliber bullet.
if you think back to the old Remington factory 158gr. lead loads this is what you'll see.

generous offer Michael.

As far as size's, I do not know what system I am going with since Lee alone has 2 different ones now, and I am sitting with a LEE turret press at the moment. I am very much considering selling off a few things biting the bullet and getting that new frame less lee press, after the Christmas hump is over with, or when I get my tax refund.
My Taurus model 66 6 inch is not too finicky it does well with a soft 358 to 360 so these bullets may just cast and shoot right from the start.

Trust me, he's been called worse. So have a lot of us. :D

Lee commercial handles will fit the Lyman 2-cavity moulds just fine, so of course will the genuine Lyman ones. The Lee 2C moulds have the handles more or less permanently attached and unless someone has removed them (not likely), they're understood to be included as part of the mould. Not so with any other mould brand or type aside from some plier-type musket moulds.
