On Friday nights I meet some friends at the local gun shop/range to look for bargains, chat a bit and then when
it closes, go to dinner at a local restaurant, and just have a nice time with old (mostly) shooting buddies, although
one of the group is about 32, half the age of most of us.
In any case, one friend last night asked me if I had a 'depth mike'. I said yes, and he seemed a bit disappointed,
and told me he had "wound up with one" and thought I might be able to use it. He got it and here is what I
found when I opened the box.
He wouldn't let me give him anything for it. I have done some trigger jobs on 1911s and work on his Garand and
some revolver work over the years, and we share a love of aircraft in addition to guns, have been to Oshkosh many
times together, so I guess it works out.
I sure was surprised. And tickled. I only had snap gauges for inside measurements until now. Of course these are limited to
about 2" and up, but I am sure I will be able to use some of it at some point.
