Only two lakes in the
Twin Lakes area, Norfork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake.
Both are nearly identical, in terms of fish species. Both are controlled by Army Corp of Engineers for local flood control. Both have limited land available for lakefront property, due to fluctuating lake levels...............and is the main reason for the many floating marinas. Both are very large lakes, with miles of shore line, that extend up into Missouri. Both lakes host professional fishing tournaments. There undoubtedly, is a reason for calling them
twin lakes.
The other fishery is trout. Rainbow, brown and cutthroat. This area is nationally noted for it's trout fishing. Requires different kinds of boats...................flat bottomed
river boats to navigate the rivers. Level of the rivers is controlled by the Corps, depending on how much water (generation) they let out of each of the twin lakes, on any given day. Fisherman that wade, must pay strict attention to water level fluctuation and speed................or risk getting swept off their feet and or stranded. The Corp maintains a website for this information. There are also sirens that go off, to warn fishermen,
generation is about to happen.
Trailering a boat is a PITA. I barely find the time, to average, one day of fishing a week. Would be significantly less, if I had to trailer. Then there would be the issue of boat and trailer storage/housing. Have two full garages, now. Three and a half and a new two car garage....................would need an additional pole barn. Ain't going to happen...........I don't want a large unsightly oven for storage of my possessions.
