I almost bought some brass yesterday for my .250 Savage model 16 bolt action from a fella that had painstakingly reformed some .270 Win to .250 Savage, or so he thought. The reformed brass would not chamber in my rifle.
Upon measuring his cases we found that the head dimension was still at .470 instead of the .467 that the .250 Savage calls for. A trip thru two different RCBS full length sizing dies did not reduce the .470 dimension at all.
Is there such a thing as a .250 Savage small base die that would solve this issue or is there something else that could be done?
This fella has over 200 cases that look purity, but just don't fit my gun.
He no longer has a .250 Savage and never said whether they ever fit his rifle!
