So, no pix, but picked it up today and shot it. 1) BEAUTIFUL rifle! 2) SWEET action! 3) Perfect wood! 4) Gorgeous case coloring! 5) Uberti did a great job! Plus - I can actually relatively see the iron sights on this one. Two diff trad loads, 10 yds one ragged hole offhand. 25 yds OH groups about 1 1/2", and with my old eyes and WAY out of practice shooting a rifle offhand. 6) LOTTSA OOOHS and AAAHHS at the shop/range! One RSO shot it and fell in love! 7) Money/price/my situation to pick this one up was perfect storm! I will remember it's special acquisition circumstances to the end!
So, only 2 negatives. 1) butt plate was slightly freckled. No bust - 2 min of Brownells Stainless Sponge and Eez-OX (THE BEST rust remover combo, imho) and almost good as new! 2) Side plate screw head totally destroyed. Smith ordering a pair of new ones. May have to 'remove' original, bit shouldn't be a big deal. 3) minor neg - this one is NOT D&T'd for tang sight.
If i should run into another one in 32-20, I HOPE I have funds! Almost same for 45 Colt (considering I already have a Henry Big Boy 45 Colt, and won't hesitate to take IT into the woods!) THIS gun will never be drug thru the woods. Range, and when all the boys/family get together for holidays and hit the woods range, I predict this one will be THE #1 Fun Gun and request to shoot!
PS: Anyone know how to 'date' the gun based on serial #?
