Custom Sizing Dies

I just ordered an Accurate mould for my M38 Carcano 7.35x51. It’s a 2 cavity 140 grain PB mould.
Now I need to find a bullet sizing lube die. I guessing I need one in the .301-.302 range. Anyone know where a guy can find these custom H&I style dies?

I sell all types of blank sizing dies at what I think is a pretty reasonable price but I don't make finished dies.

There are folks here that can make finished dies to your specs. Talk to @Brad.

Not H&I. But I can get them from NOE for there push thru system.

I have nose sizers in .298-302. I have a friend who is also loading for his Carcano. I have sized small amounts for him to try. Sizing 308 down in steps to .302.

Over there ....... Ammohead does a few . When Buckshot quit Ammohead got most of the left overs and special tools . The outside isn't as nice but the inside is .

I think Ammohead advertises on facebook, but you can still contact him in PM at boolits, but I think boolits put the kibosh on his free advertising, so I don't think you'll find a posting there.

Hello,
I just joined the Forum but I'm not new to casting or loading for the 7.35 Carcano. For Jecketed Bullet: To date I have been using Sierra 168 gr. HPBT Match in the .300 Carcano. I swage then down first from .308 to .304", and then down to .300". The Soft Jacket Match Bullets swage very easy. You want to limit the swage down to no more that .004" at a time. The 168's work very well in the M38 Short Rifle. The bullets become a bit longer in the swage process. However I have not measured the change in length. For Cast Bullet: Now I have an older Ideal mold 311260 that gives me a 130 Gr. Round Nose. They come out at .310 -.311". I want to try using it for the Carcano and figure .302" diameter should work well. I don't cast very hard bullets. Typical 5 or 6 using a Saeco Hardness Tester. C&H Makes the swage dies I'm using. My Plan is using the Lyman 450 I'll size and lube from .311" to .308". Then using the .304" Swage die push the .308" lubricated Bullets thru it. Then have Bufallo Arms make a Custom .301' and .302" for the Lyman 450. And using a 450 Sizer take them to the final diameter. This should be give me the flexibility to try both diameters and see what works best. Tell me if you think I've missed anything.

You could use push through dies in your reloading press to get to the .301 and .302 sizes instead of the Lyman 450.

I use my 450 to lube and gas check all my 30 cal bullets in a .314 die. I then use push through dies to size down to .313, .312, .311 or .310 to match the rifle's throat. The .314 die stays in the 450 all gouped up with lube. The push through dies or push through bushings are simple to make or cheaper to buy and easier to switch.

I'll second the push through dies .

I have a 308299U that only drops a .308- dia bullet .

If you have a canalure tool NOE did and might do some more of the 301618 they did for paper patch in .301 and .304 dia the grooves were really small but not much smaller than the cousin bullet XCB . The down side is that they were only available in 172&212 gr versions .

304 might be small enough on it's own.
i'm constantly surprised at how big of a bullet i can use in some of my older rifles.

Who makes this Push through die you are mentioning with the replaceable bushings?

Thanks

NOE bullet molds makes some pretty nice looking stuff that lots of guys prefer. Also, the Lee breech lock size die uses bushings inside a holder. I doubt the Lee is as nice as the NOE, but that's what have. I bought one bushing to copy and have made 7 more with the lathe.

Years ago, I used a Lee bullet sizer die that my gunsmith reamed from .277 to .301 to reform various 30 caliber bullets for my 7.35 Carcano. It worked fairly well with plenty of lube through my Lyman Orange Crusher press. Recently I purchased an Accurate mould that drops a .301+ bullet. Ammohead over on Castboolits made me a custom H&I sizing die for my Lubrisizer. No longer shoot jacked bullets in the Carcano.

I'll probably get a dedicated mold here soon too. That give me plenty of options. I use the Corbin Swage lube for all the forming I do. Thanks for the feedback.
