Dan Wesson 14-2

I never owned or fired a Dan Wesson revolver. If I was going to put down folding money for a sidearm in my salad days, it NEEDED to be authorized for carry.....and DWs were not. The End.

I never owned or fired a DW until 1978. That sure changed my outlook on what an out of the box revolver could / should be. Was the 1st .357 mag revolver our house had. Still have it also. Maybe yet just the beginning.

The Thai grip fits my hand nicely, as I had hoped. I thought/hoped the Thai grip was closer in size to S&W target grips, and smaller than the original DW grip...judging by the checkered area and the amount of non-checkered area nearby, which is just a guess, so I got lucky.
.
I did some measuring using a calipers, mostly for myself and future reference.
the first number is front to back at top of checkering
the second number is left to right at top of checkering
the third number is front to back at bottom of checkering
the last number is left to right at bottom of checkering
.
S&W 1.630 - 1.325 - 2.210 - 1.500
DW 1.720 - 1.325 - 2.360 - 1.570
Thai 1.640 - 1.310 - 2.200 - 1.350

The bonus gift of foam ear plugs was interesting, and they are hard as concrete.

I do agree the standard DW grips are fat. But then I think that is just my size small hands.
Those are nice looking grip though !
From the looks of that DW you do not shoot it to much. Looks near NOS.

I bought it at the local gunshow in 2020. It came as shown, just a little holster wear on the blue (muzzle end of barrel and front of cylinder), otherwise it's minty. I've shot it enough to know I didn't like the original grips. I got the rubber pachmayr that same year...it's better than the original, but still my hand yearns for wood...better shaped wood. I hand has always liked S&W's Target style. So, now that I've found nearly that, I'll be shooting it more...and I'll try to get it scratched up some, to make you feel better :p
.
It has a wonderful trigger when fired single action style, but the double action is kind of heavy...so it'll more than likely be a warm weather gun. let's call it my beach gun ;)
I don't know why I am this way, but a heavy trigger always feels heavier when it is cold outside.
