I have shot a few deer with cast bullets, this was the first.
Marlin 1894 CB in 45 Colt. Load was a 265 wfngc from a Ballisticast mould over 25 gr or so of H110. It shot like nothing else in this gun.
See Ian, it is warm for deer season even this far north. Sometime it is way too hot.
I'd almost swear that was Texas by the juniper trees and grass/weeds. It sort of sucks when it's so warm you can't just hang the deer in a shed for a few days to let it age.
I tend to look like that much of the time. I'm not a smiley photo kind of guy. My wife prefers it that way, my smile tends to make me look like the Grinch. Others tell me to smile, my wife and daughter say no, it just means I am up to no good. I'm very good at no good.
Oh, when I'm not happy it is quite apparent. Ask my staff at work!
You should have heard what I yelled at the deer I shot this year as it ran towards a 15 foot deep ravine.
The last deer I shot was with #1 Ruger 275 H&H, 375449HP, over 27.5 gr. of 2400 w/dac fill. Vol est about 1750-1800. Distance 110 yds, offhand. Bang flop kill, 37 cal in, about 1" exit low, just behind the shoulder, slight up hill shot.
