GunBroker bids

The last couple of days i have been watching multiple sales on GB. I will not overpay just to win a bid. 2 pistols got very close to MSRP and i bailed. The third was a used axis rifle which didn't even have the upgraded trigger. I stopped rite at msrp for a new one. It went on to 100$ over what i stopped at. Which is the same as buying a new stainless axis with the acutrigger.
But finely today i did get a used Ruger American in 45acp with night sights.

Yep, now is not the time to buy a gun.
It will either improve right after the election or get decidedly worse right after the election.

No surprise there Kevin.

In the frantic, anything-gun-related aftermath of ol' Barry's first go-round, eBay used moulds were selling for more than $100, and Gunbroker bricks of primers selling for $175 (don't know how the sellers were circumventing Haz-Mat fees).

I may have picked the wrong time to buy a .45 Colt/.45 ACP Blackhawk, but I'll bide my time and pay less than MSRP.

There are no deals to be had right now. You either pay the going price without negotiation, or you end up empty handed. Your best bet would be to buy new, from a dealer but their costs are rising too, and the discount programs the dealers rely on are rarely available. This leads to higher prices too, since the dealer have to make money on the transaction too. If you're intent on buying from an auction site, look at the "buy it now" auctions. They'll be higher, but at least you won't get out bid.

It's like this with every panic.

It's self-defeating for the seller to run "buy it now" at times like this. If you do, it puts a cap on what the item will sell for. A regular auction could get a couple of guys going who won't back down, and the selling price goes out of sight. I've had it happen a few times, and its absolutely mind boggling to see things sell for those prices. This is especially true if you're able to accept credit cards.

The shelves are indeed bare. I made a run at Starline 357 Magnum brass today--there is none in the known world. Crud. Probably should have gotten in line for the factory back-order, but I wasn't real patient and checked other places first. Maybe tomorrow.
