low fps cast from BO pistol

Done the 100gr with pistol powder thing. Thinking of 145gr PB with 4227, Rx7, cfeblk or 1680, maybe 7-8gr for 1200 or so fps - NOT looking for subsonic. Low recoil plinking @ 50 or less. From AR pistol so would like the gas to work. So what powder ignites good and burns decent at this low case fill? Somebody with QL have ideas?

I'd be looking more in the 2400 range. Barrel length and gas port location?

maybe even a bit faster than 2400,, BE-86 , power pistol, or herco maybe will have enough port pressure?

Pistol port, 10". Gas block set for 150 gdot that eject right at 3 o'clock, 19gr cfeblk. Not sure 2400 would cycle. Interesting range, close to 9mm PCC.

Look towards the powders the racegun jockeys use for unlimited class. Those guns almost always run comps and require plenty of gas to drive them. Winchester Auto Comp, Ramshot Silhouette, and some of the Vihtavuori powders might work for what you need.

Found some 32-20 load data (310 cadet & martini data) that looks good, close to same H2O cap. 9gr of 4227 worked for him. I've loaded some with 8 and other with 10 cfeblk (more gas). Try when the weather gets better.
Doc said no leg artery replacement needed at this time, yea.

9gr of 4227
I have no bo experience. :p
Only chimed in to mention similarity to my experience in x39. Being so close to the same...
Imr4227 is a great powder up & down the ladder in the x39. Cycles an ak around 12gr & 155gr for 12-1300.

OK Popper, I finally got a couple minutes free time to run some numbers for you. I like to see port pressure at least 6,500 PSI for cycling a 300 BLK with heavy subs, up to 10K is fine. but that's with a max .125" hole run wide-open. 2400 should cycle a pistol system fine with your 145-grain bullet anywhere from 9.0 grains on up, might start at 10.0. 10.0 grains with the bullet base at the bottom of the neck should be good for about 1,300 fps and 20K psi peak pressure with 9K psi at a the port and decent dwell (4,545K muzzle pressure).

RX7 should take about 14 grains to start cycling and give 1,300 fps.

With 4227, start at around 12 grains.

1680 should take about 14-15 grains to get the same port pressures and velocity as the others (meaning around 1300 fps), but I have had zero luck with 1680 at anything less than full-power loads in the BLK. At low pressure it's unbelievably filthy and very erratic/inaccurate. The unburned junk is like ground black pepper and gets everywhere in the action and magazine.

I used the 1cc Lee dipper of rx7 with rcbs 130 spl and it locked the bolt back on my 16 inch barrel .

Thanks for the data Ian. 15 gr rx7 was very accurate in carbine and cycled fine. I'll try the 10 2400 load.

Yup, forgot the 2400 rnds. nix the cfeblk - only one hit paper. 2 shots each for cycling, nope. 4227 was NO recoil! Horiz was prob me, front stand and me on the back.

Got to thinking, cfe pistol 9 gr almost cycles plinker but may be the heavy half jacket engraving, holds up pressure? Looking at 10mm, 30 carbine pressure/loads, going to try 10gr cfe pistol, remember the 10 2400 loads and work down with 4227/Rx7 to low recoil/cycle - then check fps.
Read an interesting eval of cfe blk - mixture of several different kernels. Need to sort some and see what burns and what fizzes (like the old black snakes on the 4th?). Actual different flakes/kernels of gun powder sounds strange! A kicker mixed in?

Sounds like LeverEvolution and Superformance...mixed-size spherical propellants to give progressive burn...except it isn't super-consistent.

Don’t know on pressure I have found my lot of WC820 and mid 90’s lot of AA#9 with a 150-165 grain CB to make me smile with my 10”TC.

Got it to cycle with every load I have so far, whoopie.
Then I had real fun with the 30/30 336 and lite loads. 2400 upper, unique lower.

8gr cfe pistol worked great with the 145 PB, didn't try the 170PB - forgot sized to 311. 4227 did good too but more testing to come. Got to work on this lancer mag, wants to nose up on alternate rnds. Basic gas operated PCC carbine performance. Getting bipod adapter so I don't get to carry the stand & bag to the range.
edit: 8gr cfeP cycled but no LB with the 170gr. Little tricky with the bipod on the pistol but did decent for a start. 9.5gr 2400 under the 145 was too hot, but no leading. 4227 was pretty hot, not the way to go. Looks like the cfe pistol is the best. Talked with a guy, Ped. 40/80(?) Sharps FB. If I could find a Martini in BO or 30/30!!
Looks bad but actually POA was upper right and center 2 groups of various loads.

Loaded 7.5 8, 8.5 & 9 of A2400 to try under 170 PB. 9 cycled fine but ejection was stout! See where it stops. When the range re-opens?
