I have several 311465 moulds.
I decided today ( an executive decision of mine....... ) that I
would remove the gas check shanks from both
cavities of a 2 cavity , 311465 mould.

The work went well.
Now to size , lube and coat these with BLL and try them out.

Another fantastic job Ben, I'm going to get around to doing that on a mold of mine as well.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Nice job!
I have the NOE- clone, which has a small meplat. In fact, I just loaded some in a 30-30, hope to make a good plinking load.

Awesome stuff. After seeing what you did for me another friend made a HO on a Two cav LEE. Came out great. Both these Gave me the inspiration to cut this LeE 309-2305r.

I have more then a few molds I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do this to. 75+% of my velocities combined with my Powder Coat have ZERO USE for the extra costs and work associated with a GC!

Ben, which cartridge was that 311465 designed for? The weight and nose suggest 7.62x39.
I guess it could be a plinker for most any 30 caliber.

Not originally designed for any modern cartridge.
Been around way too long. 80 - 90 years

The Loverins go way back.

The Guy Loverin's designs go back to the 1930's and early post-war era. The '465 was an indoor/short range bullet, the '466 was a 30/30 hunting bullet and the '467 was a 600 yard Hi-Power target bullet. They were a workaround due to the poor bullet lube at the time to try to get to the 1600 f/s range. The '467 was long enough to get the top drive band to engrave the throat on most Springfields and Winchester model 70's.

I have a Walt Melander copy of that bullet.
my 340-A [30-30] loves it, but I have to seat it super short to feed through the old model 94's.
it will most undoubtedly be the first cast bullet I try in that 300 savage I got from Walter.

I have yet to meet a Loverin design that I didn't like. Nicely enough, my rifles like 'em too.

Using both 50/50 BW/Alox and LSS Carnauba Red, I usually lube the bottom 3 lube grooves only. (#225438 and #245496 only have that many, so there is that). What is the consensus of the NON-POWDER-COATERS on their lube regimens for these longer 30 caliber+ models?

Right after I got my CZ-550 in 9.3 x 62, a member at the old site sent me some samples of Lyman #366408, a Loverin with thick plain base like Ben's re-cut #311465. Weight is 250 grains, and at 1300 FPS those bullets shot LIGHTS OUT with a couple different powders (2400 and IMR-4198, IIRC).

My .30 caliber match bullets are lubed with Grey's #24 just ahead of the gas check and one lube groove. Shoot an entire season with one brush stroke, one damp patch of Ed's Red and one dry patch. Next match shoot three foulers and go for record.

The '467 was the first bullet I could shoot at 2000 f/s without leading. It would hold 2 MOA at 300 yard reduced range targets for NRA Hi-Power. The issue always was the timed events, not the slow fire. You had to have enough lube to keep up with the jacketed bullet Garands.
