OK so I just ordered one of those Meister Bullets "Slug Your Barrel" kits.

Has anyone had a noticeable difference in the slug if you are doing your own test with what you have laying around and the slug is not pure lead?

In other words, If I just tried this with a cast bullet that was slightly oversize from what the groove diameter "should" be, would the fact that the bullet is not pure lead give me mixed results?

I would say the main difference is the pure lead would be easier to push through the bore, not much difference in the size of the resulting slug.

Wheelweight metal will spring back considerably and indicate a bore/groove dimension larger than actual. How much? .45 caliber as much as a thousandth of an inch.

Slugging the bore is a waste of time in all but a few instances. Making a cast of the chamber and throat area is extremely helpful in all situations

I'm going to try it on a CZ52 Czech pistol in 7.62x25 Tok. Mostly because there are differences in the ammo thats available and the CZ is a different groove size than the actual Tokarev pistol.

I believe it should be a .310 groove and I want to cast the perfect size lead for this pistol.

it'll be whatever size the funnel tells it to be when it gets to the barrel, if the gun has a funnel,, many of the new ones don't.
then Brad can tell you about what happens when CZ misses..

My wife is learning to like the 75B, so I am well aware of what happens when CZ Mrs.

That said, my 9mm had a throat a bit off center. Once I had it throated it shot better, didn’t lead, and was just more pleasant. Pretty abrupt too.

Make the bullet fit and let me rip. No such thing as “perfect size”. Bullets can change size with time, a mould can drop different sizes based on alloy, and each alloy sizes down different.
