I did near the same for some years. Our local Target Store went out of the gun business about 35 years ago and picked up a 50 Hawken very cheap. Few weeks later was in a LGS and there sat a CVA 50. Carried those both for years together. Than a friend offered me a 44 Colt 1861 Navy Arms for the caliber 50 I seldom shot. Started using that 44 for all sorts of fun shooting and found out a caliber 45 RB under 15 yards was avery potent thumper. Then came along a Dragoon, and Ruger Old Army. Those are big steps up in power.
