Let me open another can. As I think we are almost out of worms.:p I hear WD 40 works well at unsticking any thing.
Even as a releasing agent for molds.

WD 40 does everything well, except for the things people use it for.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I heard if I wore Hai Karate after shave I'd have to fight off the gorgeous women just dying to play kissy face with me. Yeah, that was a lie too. Leave the cavities bare unless you see a real need for something like magic smoke, and then ignore that idea and get the mould hotter!

Save your money and buy the six cavity from FS reloading or Titan. Much better mold and you get six with every cycle.

Buy from MidwayUSA and actually get service if you have a problem with the mould.

Bought two defective Lee moulds, from Midway, and Mr. Potterfield refunded 100 percent of the purchase price and shipping both ways. Reduced his safari savings, but he kept a satisfied customer.

Midway's pricing is not as competitive as it once was, but the selection is vast.

I have yet to have an issue with Lee directly.
I had bought most of my Lee stuff thru a local vendor, or used.
Had an issue with a stuck case, called Lee directly. They walked my through getting it out without a special tool. Then sent me a coupon to buy the tool they prefer.
Broke a pin on my .223 decaper pin. Called them, they sent me a replacement free of charge, no shipping the old one back, no paying for shipping to me. Just sent me one, got it 3 days later.:):)
I have yet to get this Used mold in the mail, yet you guys already have me sticking cavities;). I got it for the cost of the handles, shipping and all, so even worst case, if the handles are good and they look to be, I win!
It will be alright.:cool::cool:

Hey, you're the one smoking and oiling the cavities.
:headscratch:

yep, come with them roll pinned into a blind hole.
except one mold I got with no handles so I robbed the pair off a rapine mold I have about 5,000 bullets already cast from.

Ok, so when it does come you:
Scrub with Hot Water and Dawn,
Spray with brake cleaner,
Heat Cycle 2-3 times,
Smoke cavities if ya wanna,
Start casting,
Report back.

Or maybe just preheat and cast with it because the previous owner already got it working right....maybe.

I'd at least take a good sharp look at it and make sure the things not already boogered up. Check the top surface and sprue for galling/burnt on lube, the mating surfaces for trash and flakes of lead, the handles to make sure they won't fall off. Look up those "Leementing" articles I menioned just in case. Getcha some 4/0 steel wool to polish off any built up lube type stuff. People love to put waxes, bullet lube, etc on hot moulds when they should be using something like 2 stroke oil, or better IMO, just a plain old carpenters pencil, for sprue plate lube.

Don't start "fixing it" until you are 100% sure there's something wrong.

Stupid question?
OK, how do you get flakes of Lead on the mold faces ? I'm not being facetious, I can't remember it happening to me.
I use a bottom pour pot for all casting except BP.
For BP, I use the Dipper method.
Never had it happen that way either.
