I have been wanting and watching for a Ithica 49 in 22 Mag since I discovered that they existed.

What are you thinking for a scope TB?

I have been testing a new makers and maybe I can help decide if target is your liking.
For the $$ Discoveryopt is really stepping UP!
There are a few other makers too.

I just got one Discovery Opt in and am waiting on a second early next month.

Both are 30mm tubes side focus Illuminated. First I have is a 6-24. One coming is a 3-15. (I think)

Neither one is 200$ retail. But clear & brite zero complaints so far. Fine reticule for rimfire shooting too. (Many have too bold a reticule and it obscures target)

I know you like your Burris for the $$. But same $$ is what Im talking with these optics. I think they may struggle as hunting first/ last light. But maybe not. I have t really investigated. But for my uses. Which Im thinking will align with yours, its very good.

I shot it next to my buddies Riton x7 that ran him over a K... it compares well @ 50 yards and considering buts less the 1/4 cost... My friend is going to compete at long range rimfire out to almost 500 yards. (Uses a A CZ 457 too) I doubt this could compete with the Riton for that...

Where did you find the 10 round ones for $38?
I think it was DIP that had them. I have them book marked on my laptop.

CW, I have an older Simmons 6-20 with target turrets. I think that may be what I try. It has been my most reliable scope I have ever had. It has been on at least 50 or more guns. If I have an issue with a gun I put this on it to check. It has better glass than my new Arken with the Japanese glass. And I think it is better than my Vortex Viper 6-20. It has been many years since they made that one. I think it is a Philippines made one.

I have been reading a little more on these guns. It seems they have a 0.211" bore! They are made that way on purpose according to CZ. Good thing I have a 0.17cal cleaning rod. Going to have to get some cleaning jags for the 17cal now. I don't think I have any. Some people were talking a regular cleaning rod and jags and loops will not work because of the tighter bore.

About the only thing I might actually change on the gun is the bolt handle knob. I will make a few and see how they feel. But I need to order a 6mmx1 tap. I don't have anything metric wise for taps and dies.

I want one of the CZ 457 MTRs, might sell off some centerfires to fund one and save some reloading. Love the looks of them.

CZ 457 MTR
When those first came out I wanted one badly, based on the photos in the ad. I went to gun shop that had two to see them in person. Both had super nice wood. Then I saw the left side of the butt stock they never show in the photos. It had lazer "engraved" graphics on the butt stock. I was appalled, disappointed. It was like tattooing PROM QUEEN on the forehead of the prom queen.
I bought a Bergara B-14 Trainer instead.

......It was like tattooing PROM QUEEN on the forehead of the prom queen....

I've inadvertently offended a soul or two with this, so I try to be careful but...

I really, REALLY get that. My level of conservatism in the aesthetic sense tends to be rather severe. I know others like engraving, etching, etc., but I much prefer to have no feature which does not contribute to the function of the gun, period. I'd be OK with brushed stainless or blasted blued - something more subdued to not distract the eye from the beauty of the design and workmanship themselves. If the design is solid and the workmanship is good, they will stand on their own - and some just "SHINE" that way.

Case hardening mimics what was once a matter of function and sometimes octagon barrels, but that's as far as I can bear to look at on my rack. I've passed on an otherwise desirable specimen or two over that specific matter myself.

Many years back, my buddy, that I shot rimfire rifle league with, used a CZ452. I used a Ruger 77/22. The guys with the adjustable Olympic type guns won all the trophies. But we did OK. I always liked my buddies rifle. During that time, I stumbled into a CZ452 American and money fell out of my pocket to get it, BUT ...when I got it to the range, I wasn't happy with it for some reason that now eludes me? So I flipped it.
.
Two or 3 years ago, a fella was carrying a CZ452 Lux around the gunshow. I asked him the price and I was surprised no one bought it yet? Cuz he was trying to sell it for a price from a time when a Bush was in the white house. It came with some extra mags, even a metal 10 rd mag. I asked him if the barrel was bent or something...he didn't understand what I was getting at. I quickly bought it, I didn't even haggle. I like the Lux stock, fits me well. I'll post a photo when I figure out how to do that with my new phone.

I would try .22 cal cleaning rods and jags before I went with a .17 jag.
SAAMI specs show a .22 LR bore as .217" and a groove diameter of .222"
My CZ takes .22 caliber cleaning rods and jags just fine. I haven't measured it but .211" seems really tight.

I experienced a tight bore with my son's 452. A regular .22 cleaning rod got stuck. I'll check my 455, but I don't remember having problems. I'll also check the diameter of my cleaning rods and report. Big bummer to have to pound out a cleaning rod!

On the FAQ section of their web site.

A: Our 22 LRs use our cold hammer forged and lapped barrels, and are built a bit tighter than many other guns. In 22 LR we run a .211 bore, which is one of the reasons our .22s are known for incredible accuracy. This also means that a .17 or .20 rod and jag are required for cleaning, since a .22 rod will be too large.

Additionally, use of .22 Short, Long and ‘Sub-Sonic’ ammunition isn’t recommended because of the tight bore. This is not to exclude quality match or target ammos, which may remain sub-sonic in speed.

Dewey nylon coated measures .210-.211, that is what got stuck in the 452. Got started ok, the binding started after more was in the bore.
My Tipton carbon fiber measures .203. No problem with the Tipton in my 455.

I think I mentioned Tommi I have three buddies that have MTR's and I've spoken with two of them about this and both of them use a standard 22 rod no problems. I watched my one buddy clean his they're on the range with a standard 22 brass rod and jag.
It's just probably the case that not all diameters of 22 rods are the same. But the jag part you think would be more consistent ..

I would have to get some pin gauges to check mine and I'm not doing that just out of curiosity.

It shoots great and my cleaning rod and jags work – so it’s a non-issue.

.211 huh?
.
I'm a bit curious. I have a Dewey coated rod and a brass rod. I don't recall a problem, but there is a chance I haven't run a rod down the Lux I currently have, but I'd bet I ran something down the American I had 25 years ago.
I also had a steel (carbon steel?) .17 rod in my airgun cleaning kit, that I've never used in a centerfire, except a friend's Ruger 204.
