New Ruger American

I just made a chamber cast on my newest toy in 350 Legend. The bore at the chamber measures .355, the freebore measures .357. At the end of the cartridge the freebore measures .127. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I need a .355 diameter finish bullet sizer, and a .354 to .3535 sizer for pre-powder coating size.////Guess what neither NOE or Lee make sizers in that size. I have a call into NOE to see if they can make one for me. I did check with Midway and I can get an RCBS for 35$ + shipping + tax. If I don't have to go that rout I would rather not

What bullet are you gonna use?
.
I'm sure others will help about size for PC, that's out of my wheelhouse.

I have a Ruger American in 350 Legend. My throat measures right about .3565. I check and lube in a .359 die and then size again with a .356 push through die. With the tolerance of the die and some springback of the lead, they are right about .3565 and they chamber fine. (I tried a .357 push through first, but the bullets came out .3575 and had to be seated deeper to chamber.) The one other thing I need to watch for is the nose of the bullet. My bore is .346. If the nose is larger than that, it gets hard to chamber.

I would look for a .356 die.

you should be able to use a 0.356" bullet. That is what 99% of the 350 shooters use for cast. Starline uses a much thinner brass case wall then everyone else. So you can use a larger diameter bullet than using in other cases.

Stay away from lilgun powder. While it is a powder you can use, it is not a well behaved powder. It can do strange things

My only use of LilGun is in the Hornet with jacketed bullets. Specifically 37 and 40 grain bullets. In that use it is outstanding. Excellent accuracy and velocities over 2800fps in a Contender Carbine with 21" barrel.

I will use my normal 38 cal. bullets squeezed down. Tomme Midway had everything in stock I needed and all they had was Hornaday brass

Was I lucky tonight I went to a sales site named Shoot It Again Sports. The sell used loading equipment. I needed the .355 and .354 sizer dies And I found both of them at only 19$ each. There inventory is always changing. At this time they have ALOT of top punches and sizing dies. They always have alot of 310 loading tools and dies. Kevin

Mine is a GEN one, 350. Legend, Ruger, American. I've been shooting 356 cast bullets in it since day one. 357 won't chamber easily. 35 eights won't chamber at all.
Accuracy and reliability have been very good with 356 bullets.

Jacket I use 355, quantity 165 FTX or 170g Fury, bullets out of Michigan. Dennis fury, makes these bullets specifically for the velocity range of the 350 legend and they are available in 355 and 354 I believe. They perform very well, and they've been very accurate for me if you choose a jacket of bullet, I recommend you give them a look.
I have taken two or three deer with Cass Bullets in that rifle. The first one was a 220 grain MP hollowpoint at about 1400 ft./s. Lungs at about 75 yards and he walked about 35 or 40 and fell on his nose. I shot a small dough with 170 grain ranch dog at about 1600 ft./s. She dropped at the shot.
Ironically, my favorite bullet for the 357 maximum is a 200 grain MP bullet. Originally Tommi boy lent me the mold, and I cast up a big chunk bunch of them. But I have since acquired my own mold. My maximums both of them shoot this bullet very well. I haven't worked out a good load in the legend but it should be just as good as the duplicate 220 grain was.

I also played with subsonics in this rifle and 300 grain Ayres would not stabilize reliably. I didn't push velocity at all. I just shot for speed of sound. But when I drop a 270 grain bullet, I started to get really good accuracy. It's a fun Shooter With just a splash of green dot powder. I like my bolt action 350 a lot better than my AR.

I agree with Tommi boy, 100% when he recommends you steer clear of gunpowder.
1680, 4227, 57,44 have all been good. Loader seven is another one that works OK but doesn't get top velocity because it's so bulky. But 14 or 1500 has worked just fine on our deer here. Good luck with yours. CW.
