New to me mould . NEI .

After a couple of false starts , I got it yesterday .
Opportunity allowed me to cast a pile of bullets today . The first cycle with the new to me NEI 225-451 BB was a bust . It had something black in it I assumed was a release agent of one sort of another. It held something or other and the bands wouldn't fill for beans . I ran out 175 or so 452-255s and scrubbed out the NEI while the pot recovered . Looks like it was just dry graphite.
Back at the pot I ran another bunch of the 255s , reloaded the pot again and preheated the NEI again. Much better . I'm not crazy about the RN on the SWC it does have a heavy top drive band on it .

It casts WW at .452+ , it's over but doesn't more than touch maybe the .453 H&I , at 231 gr .

It still looks pretty black but it's clean now . Seen here with the H&G #130 196 gr and NOE version 454424 @ 250 gr .

I needed 400 452-255s and 100 458193s so I didn't cast many only about 30 .

Walt used to offer liquid graphite with his molds. Sounds like someone got overly enthusiastic with it. Good for the plate and pins

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I've got gun mags and books going back into the late 1800's. People have ALWAYS been looking for a "magic pill" to make bullets release! I think "Lee-menting" and a hot mould are the best answers I've seen after looking at over 100 years of peoples efforts. They were "Lee-menting" back in the 1910's too, they just didn't call it that!

Sounds like Champion aviation sparkplug anti seize .

The plate was a little gritty .
I was able to use a tool I tried several times without success due to heat , cold , sweat etc , with what seems to have been success. I used the kevlar cut protection gloves . I don't know how that will work with the 4,5,8 cavity moulds but I was satisfied with using them on the 1,2,&6 cavity. These have a high temperature rubber palm and are sort of fitting. I hate gloves that take away all of the feel of require exaggerated motion . These aren't perfect but they do keep the hot off my hands and allow me to run the moulds without a whacker even to roll out a sticky cavity (Lee not the NEI) .

I might cast something more today .
Might give the NEI another bath and run some more of those and some 45 500s .

The relationship between the sticky cavities and production is where I decide if it's worth it to mess with it .
