Having served with several men who where there, and studied Moore's book and others, it was a major battle that set the tone for the rest of the war. The NVA could not prepare the battlefield, as they did the French, be denying paratroops. Road ambush did not work, as against the French, i.e. Mobile 100. American troops were not what they had been told, but young men who believed in their mission and would fight.
