Enter the Savage 06' I had with a measured over and over 8.5" twist from the factory in 1965 . It shot GI M2 ball well enough but it ran the stupid long 230&250 5R types too. There is also a reason the 225 and 250 gr RNSP hasn't been a standard available weight since 198? aside from not stabilizing well in the more common 10" twist . The change in mind set about how to get and keep the KE isn't it . The game is drifting away from the hunt now it's all about wind dwell time .
Just because the .355/.357 cal has a 1-16 standard twist across most of the industry doesn't make 200gr bullets a standard across the caliber . It probably wouldn't fit in a 380 mag , the 9 mm would become a 38/200 pretty much where the 38 Special would rock it just because it would still have room for the 18kpsi powder charge .
My 358 Win only has a 1-14 but dotes on the 250 gr RCBS while it goes against most of my learning I think at 2150 fps it would be fine as long as the operator did their part on the medium brown bears and moose .
Just because it will stabilize in the industry standard twist doesn't always make it the right answer .....the industry has made some bad choices. Take 1-30-1-38 twists in 44&45 cal for example .......
