Rem 788

I am interested in information on the 788 in 30/30 or posably the 223. Is the action long enough so that loaded ammunition can be loaded longer than normal without having problems with ejection.
I am asking because my Sav. 340's can only eject loaded ammunition if they are loaded slightly shorter than most crimp gruves. Kevin

I don't know about 30-30's but I load a 308W to 2.810" and a 6mm Remington to 2.855".
The magazine is the limiting factor for both.

My 788 30-30 will allow the use of the crimp groove on the 311041 both going in and going out. PC'ed I actually get super light engagement. It's about all I have actually shot out of it since I have owned it. The first full velocity load I tried worked superbly, so never went looking any farther kind of thing. Pretty much just went for full speed deer load and stopped there, loaded lots of them. The magazine is the limiting factor on other bullets I have tried to see how they fit.

I only shoot my .30/30 model 788 single shot. It ejected dummy rounds of 2 9/16” and 2 3/4” with no problems.
Now finding the clip to see what length it will accept would require a miracle!
