Nothing as good as Jim does but I was pretty happy to find a cheap plinker for the old Savage.
Hor. Brass with the NOE RD 165 RNFP
And 6.2gr Redot. Bullets were powder coated and sized to .311” with no gas check. Shot prone off bags out of the bed of my pick up.
Nothing that needs shooting will be missed by that, unless it is a dime or a penny.
Good results. Hit any reasonable target, like a grouse head at that range. Prairie dogs, or
rabbits, or even deer if the HP of that load is up to it. Bullet weight is not too light and
but might be too slow for big game. I am guessing maybe 1000 fps. Any idea what
it actually is? Plenty for small game, for sure.
Darn Nice waco! Good start! You may find that with powder coat you can size a bit looser at 310" And If that was with factory sights I think you are golden!
Jim
waco,
You can easily adapt the Dockendorff front ramp with a front ramp that takes a 17 lyman Globe!
If you are just looking to target shoot! and a Lee Shaver smallest front aperture disc is perfect for 50Yd and a 3" bull
Jim
Nice sights. Yeah, subsonic sounds right, not a lot of push behind that little dab\
of powder, but way plenty for any small game, and probably easy on the ears, too.
I'll have to try Red Dot in mine.
