I always prefer pet names that end in "y" (or "ie"...just so there is a long E sound).
While I had a few dogs, way back when, I am mostly a cat person, my reasoning is true to cats anyway, that the long E sound tends to better grab their attention. Example of names I've used: skunky, Windy, Dreamie, Sassy. Dogs are probably more attentive to the owner, so it's probably a moot point?

Spotty?

I can't talk much, about originality, my child hood dogs were Rover, Spunkie, and Lady
The cats I can Remember Tommy, Tabbie, JJ, Patches, Sassy, and Eddie Cat. He was called Eddie cat, for the neighbors name that dumped him on us.
My hunting dogs when I was single were named before I got them. King Richard 5, and Mrs Jill Preston. Blood lines and all
My dogs after Marriage were Jackson ( named before I got him) . And Now Rocco. Wanted to called him Rocky because he was a sickly runt but was a fighter. Kid wanted to call him jacko, butt I was afraid that would get twisted later down the road, So wife said Rocco. That stuck.
We have a cat we do not feed, but will not stay off our porch. Call him Chunky because he is fat, beat up, and ugly.

We have t named a dog in over thirty years!!! They all came with names! Closes we got was a stray that stayed for ten years. She was my "little girl". At first we didnt want to name incase the owner popped up. But never did. She is buried in the yard. So gotta be carefull how I word or say the description of that.

Latest is Ellie she arrived last month.

Boy oh boy, that was sumpthin'. Another Thorn Hollow .22 BPCR and Boy's Rifle Match is in the books. First shooter/camper showed up Wednesday and it has been semi chaotic ever since.

I felt like a damned scullery maid by Friday evening. My spousal unit having wisely taken off to go play with two of the other wives. I cooked and did dishes and chased things down, and cooked and cleaned, and fixed, and found, and on and on. Then sittin' around the campfire with some Weller 107 and someone mentioned "Furries" and my local young friend said the local school board has authorized litter boxes in the rest rooms at the school I pay my taxes on and I had a mental/verbal BLEVE.

Saturday was much better and I even found time to go shoot the long range course and scored a 30. Winning score was 32, with two 31 ties, then my 30 and on down the line to a 14.

The fish fry was excellent and I finally relented and let folks help me which they seemed to enjoy and my life got a lot better.

Traded a Win. 69A for a Win. 72 straight across the 72 is grooved for scope and looks like brand new. I'll scope it soon. Then I bought that Marlin 94 I posted about in the rifles thread.

Got most everything picked up and put away with my wife's help last night. We are canning 8 pints of home made baked beans that got left here, I hear the canner jiggling right now. Oh and some bourbon, rye, and even some Grain Belt beer got left here.

There was so much gunk in the 1913 Marlin that I am tempted to tear down the 1910 Model 92, also in .38 w.c.f.

On the pup- I like simple one syllable names. I had Thud, Gus, Guns (short for Gunther), Luke, Taz, Dee and Sam...several Sams actually. "Boo" appeals to me, but I gotta get to know him a little more. We have a Jet now, but SWMBO insists on spelling it "Jhett". Whatever hon, it's your dog.

Took forever to get the stupid router installed. Plug and play my Aunt Minnie! Did manage to get 3 window screens repaired and washed. Also picked up a mess of stuff at Wally World besides the router, chiefly a gallon jug of "Natures Miracle". It's an odor killer aimed at pet urine. I'll let you figure out why I needed it, but things sure smell better in certain areas now!

Think I'll go out now and get all smelly myself by messing around with the horses.

Cast coated sized about 1200 9mm bullets when I woke up at 1 AM this morning. Now back up this afternoon. The Mr bullet feeder really speeds up the sizing fed into the Lee APP press. Pretty much as fast as you can pull the handle to size them

Ye that stuff works wonders. Our one dog Jackson, had issues for a few weeks due to cancer. That stuff saved our carpet. Till we would get a proper cleaning after he passed.

We have noticed a bunch of wild rose in the prairie. We were told we could not burn it this Spring because we did not submit a burn plan 60 days in advance. Instead we are hand cutting the rose then daubing the cut stems with triclopyr mixed with diesel. What a tedious process. Burning would have been so much more efficient. We worked for 1 hour and 40 minutes and three UTV box loads of cut rose brush. Sue figures about 3 more hours will turn the tide. I figure to get full of chiggers and ticks myself.

what a day.
morning went fine, but then i was doing it myself so it gone done the way i wanted it.
finally got drunken monkey-2 and 3 out to do their stuff and that's when things went down hill.

hey monkey number-3 your peas are coming up you gonna move that fence over there and fit it to both rows ?
yeah i got it.
an hour later.
the fence is unwrapped from the end post, cut three feet short, and the middle post is jammed down right through about 4 plants.
there is no need for a middle post when the fence is only 6' long and is gonna be held up by the 10 plants that are gonna grow on it.
okay.
here i put in your other 2 posts and pulled the fence across.
just cut it right here,, you looking?
yeah got it.
okay right here.
yeah,yeah.
2hrs later,, at least the fence is long enough this time,, just a foot too long and wrapped sort of around the post.

so do the math.
after the 3 foot cut we had 12 foot of fence left and needing 12 more feet of fence, one of us cut the first chunk 7 foot long.

so off to number-2.
here,,, i got 120 crocus bulbs, and 30 tulip bulbs.
i already planted the weird french/belgian sounding white ones out back in the same size box i want you to plant the tulips in.
so strip out the red mulch, take out the weed fabric and plant the tulips there.
6 wide 4 rows deep about 5"s apart.
then put a row in the back of the next box and fill the rest of it with the crocus.
then do the third box with the crocus and we'll see what's left tomorrow.
okay?
okay...

i'm going to the store with your sister to see what new plants they got in today,
you got it.
yeah,, got it, i'm going to a movie with Mom later.
fine do what you can.
2 hrs. later i'm out watering and look through the gate.
why...? thehell?,,, comeonman.
one box,,, 100 and 50 bulbs all in a 3'X3' area.
is that even physically possible?
no way, there is no way, ,,,,,,,,, look in the trash can and yep all the bags are in there.

siigh, i guess someone is starting over and doing it again tomorrow.

I`m up at 3AM this morning. Nothing unusual about that.
Put a friends pork butt on the smoker with hopes that it will be done and shredded by about 2PM.
I think the frost is over here for the year so need to start planting warm weather crops.
Dang, the garlic needs weeding again. Gotta keep it weeded to get a decent crop.
I think , even with hearing aids, I can hear the lawn growing. Didn`t I just mow it?
Anyone try placing Epsom Salts in the bottom of the hole you plant your tomatoes in? I hear it prevents blossom end rot.
Another project for early morning is to start developing some new loads for the great grand daughters 7MM-08.

Sorry Jim, but if the moron broke the wires it's doubtful the tire will work out for you. I have a brand spankin' new 11.2-28 with bad wires in the bead. Ive run through 15 different ways to fix it and none pass the smell test when I get thinking about using the tractor. All I can suggest is using the minimum amount of air needed to keep it up, maybe 8-10lbs, and start looking for another tire.

Don't suppose you can bill your tenant?

It's a method of making sure they never have to do it again, I swear. Did chores by myself for years because I couldn't stand having to redo everything over again. Have a sister in law who was forced to burn the garbage once. ONCE! She set the field on fire "accidentally" and never had to touch the again!

Heard of working it into the soil around the 'maters or burying banana peels in the hole. Both are reputed to help.
