Had a 5.7 earthquake this morning and lots of aftershocks.
The Watach fault runs north and south about a 100 yards to the east of my house.. A little diversion for the morning.

jinbo, makes for an interesting time. Went through a couple in Ca, no big deal unless you get damage.
Finished the 30/30, mowers came this morning - don't know how they figure they can mow after 3' rain. Ruts all over now, she still says I will NOT be allowed to mow.

Saw the headline -- not the best way to start your day.

Fiver, hope they are ok. Centerville about 8-10 miles south of where I live.

462, no it was not. But where I live there is small movement all the time here.

popper, No damage here and yes they are no big deal. Movement all the time here.

Unc,
Didn't know about your on-going earthquake activity.

San Juan Bautista and Hollister, roughly 40 and 45 miles away, sit on the San Andreas Fault and have several per day. We get them, too, but it's been a good while since we've felt one.

OK Now I found Out I have to get up early in the morning if I want to get groceries! Senior citizen Hours are 6 AM to 7 Am at Grocery Stores around here!
The good news is "Us old guys" get a chance at fully stocked shelves...when they open! Yeah Toilet Paper!
The only other problem is that it takes us 1 hour to get through all the isles! :embarrassed:

All non essential stores are closed including the Liquor stores!

( My beer store is still open!) Guess it is essential!

well there are times..

everything is okay with them.
I guess one of the pictures down in Dad's little ''display room'' [he keeps a bunch of over priced die cast car's and planes and stuff in there] got knocked down.
my sisters place in rose park got hit some harder, and the B.I.L. out in the middle of the valley got rocked pretty hard.
I told him that wasn't the place to be if a quake ever hit, the ground there just turns into a dry ''quicksand'' and magnifies the effect.
my brother out near Hooper was at hill field at the time, but his wife/daughter sure felt it, the S.I.L. has the nastyass for real flu and it didn't make her feel any better.

anyway we felt it clear up here, I talked to the ladies at the bank and a couple of people down in Pocatello that felt the little roller come up through here.
it woke me up more as a WTH was that?, than any real wiggle.

Hmm, try not to be swallowed by the earth there guys. Never been near a quake but they say conditions here maybe favorable for tornado activity tomorrow.

Well, there isn't much "Going and doing" happening in Kalifornistan lately. I hope all of this b
Snowing this morning, raining in the afternoon and freezing now!! Driveway is like a skating rink!
That has to be one monumental PITA.

My driveway got another inch or better gift last night! There are some dogs somewhere behind that pile of snow in my driveway. Sounds like this freeze thaw pattern is going to be around a week or so. I’m going to stay in the shop and make snares. Might finish those .243's also. Man I hate spell check!!!

went down to pokey yesterday like the wife wanted.
got almost everything at the Lowe's everything but 1 single 2x4 I needed one piece of pressure treated wood and they had 3.
2 broken ones, and 1 that had been hit by the forklift.
there was a new bundle of them up on the shelf but all the employee's seemed to be on lunch, or busy unloading a bunch of something out back.
I got the stuff to finish the shed roof and moved on to home depot.
they had just finished installing the new price stickers on the dirt I wanted so [shrug] there went another extra 20%, and I took the arch out of the rear springs.

on to the grocery store.
the wife asked about wal-mart yeah..no not goin there.
the other place was a bit busier than normal and much of the ''necessities'' were also gone from the shelf.
they did have a cooler full of milk and a couple of pallets full of eggs so the cows and chickens are still going to work.
apparently the mills are not going fast enough.
they had cases of olives, and green beans [no corn?] which I needed anyway and plenty of meat.

over to the sportsmans warehouse.
semi empty.
not much gun powder left.
primers were some thin but good prices.
CCI shot shell primers were 19.99, and I got 2-K Winchesters for 22.99 each.
[limit 1 brick per customer, I powder, 2 boxes of ammo, or 1 flat of shot shells]
they had some type of tape barrier up around the gun section and you got checked out by some chick there before entering.
I guess they got told to maintain some random distance and to wipe everything down with some wipes they had.
Hornady bullets and brass was marked 20% off,, I got neither although I did eyeball that last box of 60gr, flatnose 25's they had pretty hard.

Called gun range, they are still open even with the 50 or less recommendation - so far. She went to the store again, got some stuff -arabs still have baskets full of stuff. Lots of candy on the shelves still. No water, some milk. Forgot razor blades for me so I told her I could grow a beard.

Winter returned today. Cold and rain in the valley, a lite skiff of snow down to the water mark this morning. Someday spring will get here.

happy dance-small.jpg I had a dentist appointment this morning and I am quite happy about that.

A 1 1/2 year ordeal, so many appointments I lost track, 4 just this year, thousands of dollars. Today was the final appointment, all finished now. Yep, happy dance time.

Dentist says dentists offices are ordered by the CDC to close for two weeks & possibly longer starting tomorrow. Restaurants all over town closing or offering curb service take out only. According to the local radio news there's not a case of China flu within 100 miles of here, a few down around Little Rock though.

I grow less and less convinced as this 'pandemic' advances (?) that 1) .gov knows a whole lot about the bug or its behavior and 2) that all of this Chicken Little/sky is falling doomsaying will make a lot of difference going forward.

Given that I was already in the "vulnerable" population groups for the OEM/box-stock annual flu bugs anyway--and that I practice good hygiene as a matter of course due to those known vulerabilities--we haven't had to change much that we already do.

I really don't "Get it".

What makes this one worse than the Asian Flu that killed 70,000 plus in the50's, or the Hong Kong Flue of the 60's that took 50,000 or the swine flu that took 12-14000 in 2009? Nobody suggested shutting down the entire global economy for those...and those numbers are for the US alone.....world wide this Covid-19 hasn't even overtaken one average year of Regular Flu in the US.
What do they see that justifies going on a war footing THIS TIME, and shutting down the entire country's and most of the free world's economy?

I don't know for sure Rick; but the wild gyrations of the Stock Market make me believe that someone of Wall Street power is set to make a bundle.
