I bought these dies , I guess about 6 yr ago , dirt cheap as far as they go .
Then I passively searched for a press to make them work ....... There just aren't many available Pacific Super Deluxe presses . I did aquire a Deluxe or maybe a Super but as my luck holds the parts don't work together .
I did aquire a an RCBS RS , and I do have Partner also . The connection is that they share a ram diameter . The hinge pins don't match up with the ram/toggle but a new toggle should be pretty easy to make with the mixed pins . In a test run to see if it is worth the effort it seems to work .
The bullets above were altered from the Speer 308 100 gr plinkers to the Pacific RNHP without undo force . I have to keep in mind that the dies were supposed to work with a lift handle press not a down handle so I think that alters work dynamic .
The other bug , if you will , is the opening size . I need the toggle about a 1/4 in shorter for 2 reasons . First is that there are only about 6 threads in the top of the press so while that's probably enough I'd feel better with 2-3 more .
Second is to get a little more room between the ram and die .
The base form of these dies is threaded on the ram side while the nose form is on the die side on a post . Which means that these are way over simplified from what I've seen in all of the other swage dies . With a mini lathe I think it would be possible to make the simple pistol bullets and probably the simple spitzer shapes .
I think the base side as is deep enough to make 150 gr maybe more if the nose pin were shortened . 25 ACP brass might be just right but the 5.7 lopped off at the shoulder ....... I'm getting way ahead of myself and I think I'll stick to reforming plinkers maybe cram a 22-65 in a cut down 22 mag/17HMR case if I get really crazy .
