Swedish M67/89 Rolling Block

I just bought a brand new 130 year old rolling block. The bore looks like it left the factory yesterday and I bought it to shoot. Who has experience with the 8x58RD and the bullets to fit this throat and bore? Here is a rough sketch of the chamber cast I made. Thanks

Imagine the impact that round (and it's fore runners) made throughout the military world. Lobbing 450-500 grains slugs in rainbow patterns was no longer tactical supremacy. Now the rifleman could aim at a man's head and easily expect to drop his target out to 300 + yards. Center hold aiming was a reality and very deadly.
The Bores in South Africa were putting the British Regulars to extreme issue.

You might take a look at the specifications on this special order mold from MidSouth shooters supply.

No help... My 2 RBs are original Argentine in 43 Spanish - like new. Other is same model as yours, albeit customized to 45-70. RBs are a ton of fun. Good luck!

Thanks, I contacted Lee with my sketch of the chamber cast and they recommended that also. I bought one and here are the dimensions from some that I cast. More head scratching...

try the lee bullet.

i'm not sure on the length [distance measurements] but the nose looks from here to be clear back in the throat and leade area.
set the check down below the neck a touch if you have to.
something simple like 16grs. of 2400 should get you in the ball park of <1800 fps. and the jump will help.

I really appreciate all of you taking the time to help me sort through this. I made some more measurements of the bullet and included them with the sketch of my chamber cast in the attached doc. Seems like this bullet is not the best match to this long throat and bore/groove diameters. Maybe the Lee 8mm Max would be better, but the nose is still 0.322". I could size the body but has anyone sized the nose of a bullet to become a true bore rider?

Here is the drawing of the 8 mm Max. With the gas-check at the base of the neck one grease groove will be outside the neck and 1/8” of the tip of the bullet will extend into the bore. It probably will not engage the rifling due to the ogive.

NOE makes a tool to squeeze the nose down.
i wouldn't bother if the thing chambers.
i try to get as far away from bore riders as possible, if possible.
but if i gotta i gotta and i try to make the nose have as much engraving as possible and still chamber properly.
001 to 002 seems to do that easy enough.

fiver, thanks for the input. Chambering shouldn't be a problem with the throat of this rifle 0.618" long and tapering from 0.348" to 0.330". I guess any bullet is going to bump up to fill the throat upon firing. Do you lube the nose if it is engraved?

yes and no.... LOL
if it helps accuracy i do, if it don't i don't.
i wait till i have the ammo loaded and do a few versus not.

all you need is some greasy fingers with a little lanolin or vasoline to see, and then try something more time appropriate [LLA 45/45/10etc] if your not gonna shoot the whole batch soon.

sometimes the amount and where a lube is can make a big difference in group size.
a pair of bolt action 30-30's i have [shaking my head at this one] they share ammo no problem even liking the same oal.
but i have to sit there and wipe the lube out of all the exposed grooves [louverign design] for one rifle.
it's the only one i have to do that for.

my 7 mauser likes a bit of [lanolin, bees wax, and crisco,, AKA black powder lube ] lube smeared on the nose of the 145gr silhouette bullet, and it seems to like it on the 168gr. version.
the 150gr. spire point mold i have doesn't care for any.
