Some of you might remember me buying a Super 14 barrel in 30-30 Win. with no throat in it. I couldn't get any of my cast bullets to chamber properly. I sent the barrel to my gunsmith in Golden , CO for throating. He requested me send about 8 or so " Dummy Rounds " with no powder , primer, etc. He said, " You seat your cast bullets to the OAL that you want and my job will be to throat the barrel to accept them ". He did his job well !

I'm super pleased with his work done on my barrel.
I took the T/C Super 14 to the range today.
I'M A HAPPY CAMPER ! !

I only used one propellant, B'Eye, 7.2 grs., I guess it could do worse...............

My friend Nick had never fired a T/C Contender, I asked him to shoot 5 rounds at 50 yards. I thought that he did pretty well.

Here is my 5 rounds at 50 yards :

Time for me to go to 100 yards :

Now I guess that I can begin doing some serious target work with the pistol and go through all my .30 cal. moulds and propellants and sizer dies, etc.

Shouldn't take much longer than about 23 years.

Finally you get to shoot it! Nice work. Considering it is a 30-30 I guess you could develop loads forever Considering the amount of moulds and powders you have!:p

Ben,

I would have been proud of that 100 yd. group fired from one of my rifles with cast bullets... much less a handgun.
I would say that was money well spent.

I've got an uphill climb now.
I've got all these other .30 bullet moulds , propellants, etc.
Catch is ,any and all of them have a pretty big challenge ahead of them to beat today's groups.

This is probably the most accurate pistol that I own right now.

You know this just has to get you thinking....26" barrels, pillar bedded actions, synthetic stocks , mega buck
tactical scopes, adjustable triggers....really

Single shot 30-30 hand gun and a 2x scope.....that ought to learn us......:):):):):)

Most single shot silhouette pistols will out shoot most if not all off the shelf hunting rifles. Richard Mischler has fired 40x40's with a 10 inch BF pistol on the 500 meter rifle course, not a single rifle came close.

I went to an event a couple of yr ago, 1 of the games was a no rest ,no sling 400 yd best of 5 hit/miss on an 18x24 steel ,open sights.
A peep sighted 45 cal ML whomped on a 300WM bull bbl M40 like rifle ........ twice.

This type of thing is new to me.
I grew up in a world where if your revolver would put 5 in a silver dollar at 25 yards, you better keep it, the next one might not shoot as well.

Not yet, my 30-30 TC off the bench with a scope at 100 meters RCBS 308-165 SIL with 4759. Forgot load. Moneyshot.jpg Many pennies shot.
single shots.jpg
Single shots with opens at 100 and 200 meters. The MOA has done 3/8" at 100 and both under 1" at 200.
You have a wonderful gun and need more work. I have done it with revolvers. th_50yardswiththe500JRHBFR.jpg 50 yards with a .500 JRH BFR. It has done 1/2" at 100. .500 shotgun shell.jpg Shotgun shell at 100 with it. My best was 2-1/2" at 500 yards with a revolver.
A single shot will beat a rifle. Your TC will do it once you work it out. But you are still in revolver class. Not what I accept from a revolver either.
Dump Bullseye and use real powders. 4759 proved best in the 30-30 pistol.
