Taffin's .44 book

This has been a good year for my library. Got a belated Christmas gift of John Taffin's book on the .44s. All the way from cap and balls to the gee whiz autos with a section on the snubbies, rifles, replicas , single actions and my favorite the M29. Book is well done and a heck of a reference manual. Even has reloading data but not as much cast as I'd like but you can't please everyone.
Lot of money but they did it right and it's a heck of a fine addittion to any shooter's shelf./beagle

I have a copy too. Johns books are extremely thorough and well written. That was where I got the information on Ray Thompson that I didn't even know existed.

A book is a treasure that lasts forever.
Books. and Magazines too. Never been a fan of soft copy magazines, but... storage space and all... Plus easy search. Having said that, I have a dyed in the wool preference for printed material (old/dinosaur/set in my ways). With that all in mind, recently bought $50 worth of Handloader magazines - and have been thrilled going through them all page by page. Do have to admit I made a lot of soft copies of articles for easy ref.

I like very old reloading manuals and gun books. Same with old military manuals - typically from WWII all the way back to Civil War and later. Most of my CW's and older are reprints

I know. When I was heavy into military rifle collecting, I bought several dozen FMs and reprint books. But haven't look at them for years. Need BAR manual?

John has always been a big help whenever I've needed it. I'm on a couple of boards he visits along with some of the surviving heroes of my ballistic upbringing. They're all very good people and I appreciate them greatly. I've only conversed with them in open forum out of respect to their privacy. Another great is Jim Taylor.
