I keep seeing all this data posted buys here using Titegroup.

Anyone use it in 44 special with a 250 gr swc?

That sounds right, I would look at 4 gr to 4.5 gr for that bullet. That sounds like a fun 44 Russian load.

4.7 gr of Red Dot is around that velocity and pretty accurate. I just wanted to give Titegroup a shot, so to speak. Being easier to measure is a good thing too.

If I understand correctly this powder does not like compression at all.

Titegroup hates compression almost as much as Trailboss, but it is excellent when just a whisper is in a large case. Ian has done a lot of testing on that, I have used it in pretty much every pistol case I have and soon will try it in some of my large rifles. It seems to be an accurate powder, my 9mm and 45 Auto loads seem to not change the group much, from the bottom t9 the top.

I used it in .45 Colt for years under 250-260-grain bullets, loved how clean, consistent, and accurate it is. Now that Universal is hard to find, and Unique just doesn't get the same consistency as TG, I'm probably going to go back to it next time I load some up....which is coming soon. I'll have to look up the load, IIRC to regulate to the SAA sights it was a tenth or two below Lyman #49 data max for the 452664 cowboy bullet. YMMV with the smaller .44 Special.

I just got one of those shiny new 4-lb jugs of TG also, even thinking of taking Bill's lead and loading up some .45 ACP with it and the MP 200 SWC since I have a big box of those languishing on a shelf. 4.7 grains under the Accurate 45-230L has been a great performer for me in the past, though a bit snappy in a lightweight, short-barreled 1911.

8gr Universal is my go to load in the 45 Colt under a RCBS 45-270SAA
Accurate and clean burning. Just got an 8lb jug.

7.8 grains under an Accurate 255 RFN (I forget the exact number) is where I found happy in four different revolvers and two rifles, all with very different dimensions.

I have used it, but am traveling, very far from home now, will have to check records later. One load that has worked well
with .45 Colt is 8.1 W231 under a Keith 240ish bullet. Just can't remember a Titegroup load of the top of
my head. The .44 Spl should work with a similar charge of 231, maybe 7 or 7.5 or so, since case
volume is a bit lower. Good, pretty clean burning powder in my experience, and produces
good accuracy in the large bore cartridges that I have used it in.

4.5 grs would be down there in the 750 zone.
5.1 in the 45 acp under a 230 is snappy for recoil compared to unique but right at ball ammo speed.[850ish]
6 in the 45 colt duplicates the standard 14-K load and isn't bad at all for recoil but is in the 900 area.
I have also run 4 grs in the 41 mag under a 210 and it's like a 38 special target load but will lay the smack down on small game if you can hit it with the revolver.
that same load will seriously damage a yote for about half it's body length at 75yds.

Been running a batch of 454 cases w/8-9gr tg under mp300 w/srp.

Tg is on my do not run out of list for 800-1100 pistol/rifle loads. In its own range it's tough to beat.
