I placed a small order at 1:50 PM with Midway. I had an email almost immediately star g the order was being picked. At 5:16 PM I had an email with the trackng number as the order has shipped. Less than 4.5 hours from placing the order to shipping!

I don't always use Midway but when I do this is a large part of the reason why.

I've had that kind of service too.

I have a personal best with Summit racing . I placed an order about 630 pm on Thursday and the package all but beat the email with tracking information. Picked packed shipped 16.5 hrs to the doorstep .
Ok it was all in the Reno store and it's only 140 miles but it still had to be in the Reno sort by 0400 .

Midway can be a bit deceiving on that shipping. When they send you an email notification that the order has shipped, probably not. They send that email to you when their computer generates the shipping label (and tracking number) but that has nothing to do with when it actually ships. It seems Midway has their orders picked up in the AM and most of their shipping notifications go out in the afternoon so it hasn't shipped, it's sitting on the their shipping dock. That's fine most of the time but when they say shipped Friday afternoon and Monday is a holiday it hasn't shipped, will sit on their dock until Tuesday morning.

I placed an order today at 1:01 pm and it showed shipped at 6:26. It should be here Friday if my local UPS hub will get it together, which between dozens of orders at work and home both they distinctly have NOT gotten ANYTHING together. The tracking number I received has been generated, but UPS hasn't gotten their loving, caring hands on the box yet.

Same as mine Ian, should be here Friday.

Rick, I agree on the shipping thing. I do know I have ordered early in the day and had it the next day. They must have a late morning pickup. They probably do enough UPS business to have a trailer there most days.

I've had pretty good luck with Midway. Although Graf's shipping is almost always cheaper, Midway often has brass that a lot of others don't. Also, I've bought smaller quantities of Starline cases from Midway and paid nearly identical pricing per/ea. as I've paid for larger quantities directly from Starline.

Holy cow! I just got an email from UPS showing a package for delivery tomorrow! That is unreal, delivered just about 24 hours after order is placed.

Midway has blown it on shipping, BIG TIME.

Used to be, if I placed an order before 2 pm, I would have it the following afternoon.
Columbia, MO is only about 130 miles away and UPS would have it here the next day.
This went on for many, many years and was a big reason to choose them over Midsouth
if I was in a hurry, since MSS is nearly always cheaper on the same item but used to
take an extra couple of days.

Recently Midway started shipping it via UPS with USPS doing the "local delivery", which takes about 3-6
days to cover the same distance. Placed an order Sunday, got "notice of shipping" Sunday night,
nothing Tuesday. Probably by the end of the week. :(

Sucks to be that stupid on "improving" your shipping.

The UPS "basic" shipping uses USPS for final delivery, and does take at least one extra day. The good news is that is an option YOU get to choose, or not, when you order, not a Midway policy, so you aren't stuck with it. If you just select the cheapest one, yep, you're going to get final delivery in your mail box. Select UPS Ground for final if you don't want USPS involved.

Often, ground is the cheapest. These things evolve. I think the USPS went up on their rates and it's a lot less lucrative for Midway to use that method anymore. Interestingly, the past few of my orders where I deliberately bought something extra just to get the free shipping deal were all shipped standard ground, so it must be the cheapest route for Midway too lately. In years past, choosing a "free shipping" option either as a site coupon or by purchasing a specific item would usually mean you just committed to the UPS Basic shipping method.

I just choose cheapest.
Ordered Sunday night, still not here Wed. Three days so far, probably get it Friday. Sad to see how
much slower it is than it used to be.

On a similar note. Purchased a part from someone on the other site. He is in St. Pete, FL. Tracking the item,
it went to Colorado, and then took another 12 hours to get back to KC area, supposed to be here tomorrow.
Took about 4 days to get to Colorado. I wonder if FedEx is aware that Denver is 600 miles west of here,
and not at all "on the way" to KC from south Fla?

Strange stuff.

I believe that Larry turned the Midway business over to his daughters, and so it may well be a management problem at this point.
I ordered a scale on Sun evening, and it is not here yet. Used to be if I ordered on Sunday evening, I got it on Tues. Things
change unfortunately! I wonder if a factor may be in stock items vs non in stock in some cases?

They may be experiencing higher than normal order volumes due to recent tragic events.

I had a FedEx package leave Conway Ar on Wednesday, go across i40 to Springfield Mo, Memphis, then south to i10 in GA spending nights in Alabama , Louisiana for the weekend and Texas, finally reaching Tucson Wednesday night . Then on Thursday the next week it left Tucson at o530 , Las Vegas at 0830 , Pahrump at 0945 , Tonopah 1100 and delivered at the door 1315 . 13 working days from the Smith to my front door and just a touch over 1000 miles out of the way actually crossing I 40 times on its way to the Atlantic Ocean to hit I 10 via Houston to get to the crook on the western edge of Nevada which by longitude is 62 miles west of San Diego. 3000 miles to get 1800....
