I sent the guy a respectful suggestion that this mould may not be sellable. So, what is wrong with this mould?

Might be the camera angle or the material it is rests on but the cavities don't appears to be the same in each block.

The outter cavity looks a little scruffy , missing a ferrule , has a few rust spots ,looks like it might be magnetized. I thought you might have thought that it had mismatched blocks . It's old , well ,used any way some folks don't manage tools like others .

Not a camera angle, the two blocks don't even have the same number of lube grooves. Definitely blocks from two different molds/bullets.

Both mould halves appear to have 2 lube grooves per cavity and the vent lines, although fuzzy and washed out, I think might number the same from bottom to indexing pins/holes. Also the block on the right is, because of no sprue plate, sunk into the cloth a bit more than the one with the sprue plate.

A definite rehab project, at best. Lyman still offers the "#356242" 2 cavity, so there is minimal need to salvage it as an out-of-print example finite in number. It's not like I'm deeply enamored of Lyman moulds anyway. There might be a set of 2-cav handles out of the deal once you cut the no-doubt frozen block screws out to detach them, but even the handles have seen better days. This late at night, I'm not too optimistic I suppose--but CPR at an autopsy makes no sense in any case.

358242 was/is offered in two different bullet weights. 92 gr & 121 gr. This setup has one half block of each :p. The dowel pins don't even line up, and have been beaten back into the blocks. He shouldn't even be able to close the blocks. And one block is longer than the other.

The things you see in auctions.

I got no response, and the auction has been relisted a couple of times since my attempt.

It will eventually sell, and somebody will blow a gasket.

Or they will wonder why they get wonky bullets. May well be purchased by an equally clueless person.

It could be. My uber-precise, scientific measuring procedure leads me to believe there is a 1/4 inch difference between the two block length.

I held a ruler against the screen:). However I do suppose it could be just a really distorted pic.

They appear to have the same # of vent lines on each half with the cavity lining up with the same #. I think it's just a bad picture.

I agree, The rust splotches on the bottom side of the mold faces line up (for the most part). The lube grooves kinda look different, until you look closely and realize the non-sprueplate side seems sunken into the purple felt.
that's my 2¢
