The lil 357Max dosent get the respect it deserves. The discod Hornady 180 ssp was a awesome combo @ 2100 fps. I cant remember all the bang flops on hogs & Deer. I have a couple boxes squirreled away.I have 4 of them from 22 hornet to 45-70. I re-chambered my 357 mag to 357 max and use it for primitive weapons deer season. It has never missed a deer or taken a second shot to put it down.
I sure wish I had got a few of the other calibers when they were available.
Took me a second to get that...I re chambered 4-5 357's to Maxi thru those years. I had two untill a few years ago. Kept the factory Maxi sold the last 357/Max re chamber.
Couple years ago, with the help of a friend, I got my Savage 24 in 357Max/20ga.
Its fun to compare the 14, 17.5" to the 24" Maxis. The H&R should be nic named "linda" as it can chamber any including the 358009 while the 'tender and Savage cannot come close!

My old partner and I bought 2 for $89.00 each some years back. I don't know the exact model, but it's the one that has the ability to change to manually activated reloading. Nice if you don't want to chase brass, and surprisingly accurate! The deal of the century was new in the grease SKS's for $79.99 if you bought the whole crate, I think it was 20 rifles. These were Chinese and Russian made that now bring over $500 each. That is good interest for 28 years investment.
The supply dried up, the demand increased, and the value of the dollar shrank. With what 500 dollars are now worth it almost makes an SKS a bargain. The SKS I worked with was also surprisingly accurate and with cast bullets to boot. It's ridiculous what the prices are on them now at gun shows.
