Williams "Streamlined Front Sights" [Two Piece Models]

Folks, this was part of a long message about Contender sights. Ran into a limit on images I could post for one message.

Which Widths were made in the two piece style? So far, I have only seen the two piece design in the .250 and .340 widths.
Narrow (N) .250 width is for Williams Streamlined and Shorty ramps.
Medium (M) .340 width is for factory ramps such as Marlin, Remington, etc.

I have not seen the .531 width offered in the two-piece design.
Wide (W) .531 width is for dovetailed barrels commonly found on .22 rifles and muzzleloaders

Sight Height Combinations for 3/16 High Streamlined Ramp
NOTE: All decimal heights do not have a leading decimal point. I use decimal points to force uniform spacing.

Note: Height from the top of the Bead to the top of the barrel [Barrel-Bead] is -NOT- the same as Bead Height. The important number is the Barrel-Bead number, which is the actual Front Sight height.

Base to Dovetail [Base/DT] + Height of Bead [Bead HT] = Top of Barrel to Top of Bead [Barrel-Bead]

Ramp Base/DT Bead HT Barrel-Bead

Williams Streamlined Front Sights
NOTE:
So far, only yellow colored cards, either "Williams Streamlined Front Sights" or "Williams on the Range" "Gold/White Bead Front Sight", have two-part front sights. The "Gold Bead Front Sight", "Fluorescent Bead Front Sight" or "Brilliant Bead Front Sight" look to be single piece front sights.

NOTE: There seems to be two versions of the packaging for the two piece front sights used with the Streamlined Ramp. These were "64 Sight Combinations" for this version [2x bead color, 2x bead size, and 4x sight height 2x2x4=32, plus Lo Base or Hi Base 32x2=64] and were a two-part construction. A "base" that fit into the dovetail, and individual blades that mounted into that base. .250 [N] and .340 [M] widths. Note that later Streamlined Front Sight two-part sizes look to have been "harmonized" with the one piece sights.

Lo Base is just the dovetail. [as pictured]
Hi Base has a .121 portion above the dovetail. Total height from bottom of dovetail to top of base is .212

Top / Base Combination Heights
Top Lo 090 Hi 215
160....250....375
191....281....406
222....312....437
253....343....468

So, we can see the Lo Base [.090] gives us .250-.343, and the Hi Base [.215] gives us .375-.468, which are the same Height options for the later packaging.

NOTE: The "64 Sight Combinations" is gone. "Lo" and "Hi" bases are not identified [but they exist] and are still used in used combination with 4 different height Tops.

"Lo Base" version
Williams_Streamline_Base.jpg

NOTE: This is a "Lo Base" version, see the short distance from the locating slot to the edge of the base? My SWAG is that the Tops all use the same .625 lengths, front to back, regardless of the dovetail base height.

"Hi Base" version
Williams_Streamline_Hi_Base_Bottom.jpg
NOTE: This is a "Hi Base" version, see the longer distance from the locating slot to the edge of the base? My SWAG is that the Tops all use the same .625 lengths, front to back, regardless of the dovetail base height.

Upper Side of Top

Notice the "2" stamped on the Top. Is this to show the width? "2"50 [N], is there a "3"40 [W]?

Measuring my WWB .406N:
Height from bottom of the dovetail to top of the bead is .400, close enough to .406
Height from bottom of the Top to top of the bead is .184 [close to .191]

Positioning web is .060 wide
Front to rear of the sight is .628 [5/8ths..]
Width is .250 [whoda thunk it ?]

NOTE: Tops can be used with either the .090 or the the .215 height base.

Height from bottom of the dovetail to top of the base is .212 [same as "Hi Base"]
It is evident that Williams used the same approach as with the 5D / FP, where angular relationships position components. The dovetail base has a slot milled in it [left to right sides], and that provides a front to back positioning. The blade portion has a matching "web" that mates with the slot.

The blade portion has a counter-bored hole for the mounting screw. This screw provides centering alignment for left to right.

Heights measured from the barrel to the top of the dovetail/ramp. NOTE: The 3/16" Screw-On ramp has 1.625" hole spacing. All other Screw-On ramps have 2" hole spacing. 6-48 screws included.
