I've put together grease with both oils, but used Na stearate instead. Done it with castor and Ivory, too, it makes the slickest, most beeeeautiful honey-colored stuff you ever saw, and it barely smokes when cooking to the MP of the Ivory.

Just looked at my notes, 14% Brad's flake Na stearate and the balance castor oil makes what I call a #3 grease. You'd have no trouble doing the same with 6-7% Li stearate, the oil will take the heat just fine as long as you do it quickly and don't bake the castor to a solid plastic. The smoke from cooking Felix lube is from the mineral oil, not the castor.

yeah that mineral oil smoke is a good indicator when making other lubes too.
the first batch of 61-1 I done I used a tbs of mineral oil to let me know to start hustling the waxes because I only had about 75-f more to go to get everything broke down.
before the re-gelling of the whole mix back together again.

sucks that the 61 recipe didn't pan out, I liked that one it had basically everything a lube needed.
it did make a good additive to the micro-wax/mineral oil Gel - E-yellow lube blend though once I bumped the bees-wax up enough to sop everything into solution.
interesting too was mixing the Gel-E-Purple mix with carnuba red 50-50.
I have been using it to lube my 44 mag boolits with recently and will shoot them this summer.

Also, the BW I'll be using is a huge block that my Father purchased sometime in the early '60's. Any problems with using vintage BW?

I have beeswax from 3 sources.
I bought a box of candles made by a beekeeper at a Garage sale and was told it's pure beeswax

And I got 25 lbs from Randyrat, was fresh when I bought it about 5 years ago.

And also I got 12 lbs from another CB member, he claimed it was from a related family farm, stored in a unheated farm outbuilding since the 1960's when Grandpa had bees. The outer layer (1/2") has faded to almost white, but when melted, it looks real good, like the fresh stuff, and also when melted, it still has a bit of honey smell. So I have to believe it's still good enough for bullet lube.

bees wax has a great ability.
it can be hard and look like it was buried in a swamp but as soon as you melt it [and maybe filter it some]
it reverts to being good bees-wax again.

I have a chunk I got from a C/B member about 8-9 years ago, his grandpa used to use it for target practice with 22 shorts or CB's or sumthin as a kid.
every time I melt some I have to pour the wax off and pick out the lead chunks.
but it works as well as the stuff I got from DJ [after he went and pulled a huge hive out of someone's garage eaves] and the more brown stuff I got from Randy.

True story: My Dad has been prescribed Vytorin for years. Three pharmacies, including Walgreens, then a local shop, now CVS, repeatedly fill it with Viagra. He keeps firing pharmacies because they cannot seem to get it right, ever, and it's a huge time suck and fight against an eternal wall of stupidity and incompetence to ever get it filled correctly. Hell, they both start with a "V", right? Close 'nuff I guess. How they can keep screwing this up it a total mystery, unless there's someone else with his name and birthday in the same town who has a script for Viagra and the same difficulty getting his proper meds.

Vytorin is also prescribed as a 2 strength drug like 10/40 as it contains two medications. Viagra is a single strength. Vytorin does not come in 25,50,or app mg like Viagra.
I'm not gonna say errors never happen but it is how we handle them that makes all the difference. Most people understand "we f'd up".

Well tell him to skip the candy pills, he needs Caverject. Only if he has a strong heart, it takes a lot of energy to be 18 again.

oh tryin to get back on topic are ya?
if you mix it to a point of it being soft and malleable you went too far.
you want it to be firm and not so flexible when first mixed.
the olive oil will keep softening the wax.
