I've put together grease with both oils, but used Na stearate instead. Done it with castor and Ivory, too, it makes the slickest, most beeeeautiful honey-colored stuff you ever saw, and it barely smokes when cooking to the MP of the Ivory.
Just looked at my notes, 14% Brad's flake Na stearate and the balance castor oil makes what I call a #3 grease. You'd have no trouble doing the same with 6-7% Li stearate, the oil will take the heat just fine as long as you do it quickly and don't bake the castor to a solid plastic. The smoke from cooking Felix lube is from the mineral oil, not the castor.
