Hi guys ..Dan here again
Ya again... , sorry.... but I promised a follow up to this threat..http://www.artfulbullet.com/index.php?threads/ok-so-maybe-the-311291-aint-so-bad.2509/
So now that you've clicked on the above link and read the post you know some of the back ground regarding my testing (re-testing to be exact) of bullets cast with my new NOE mold...
Looking pretty good in the 30-30..yes ?
Well I have moved on to the testing of the 291 in .308 Winchester...initial results were just so-so..but I continued to hang in there ..trying different charge weights and seating depths...I do believe it was worth the effort...as I will show you...but before I do... for those of you who don't know me that well, let me once again and with out hesitation say that "anyone can out shoot me if both of us are using a scope" ...here comes the excuse... I seem to have an aversion to them..OH Well .!!
The gun I used for the load development was (and still is) a fairly decent Remington 700 VS, sporting a very nice Leupold VariX-3,6.5-20x....recently installed in a Boyd Thumb Hole Stock....
This rig has proven to be a sub 1/2 MOA with various cast bullets....at least on the days I do my part...
here's the rig..
Here's the loaded round...
Here's todays group...I think this may be the charge I will continue to use for this bullet in the .308 unless my testing proves differently...at the moment I only have this group to show you..I will post others similar to this when I get back to the house...I am at the office and don't have the targets here...
Needless to say this bullet is surprising the heck out of me..!!!!
On to the 30-06...!
Thanks for taking the time to read this.... Dan
