I just happen to run a 30 Herrett Rimless AR 15 upper (trimmed back 6.8 SPC case) as wellI have a number of 6.8 mags and a spare bolt .........
I suppose a Herritt would be ok ....... No blow out , just a neck up . Of course if I had a 150 gr .278 bullet .......
I still mean to do this, but haven't got around to it yet. I bought dies, does that count as a start?I just happen to run a 30 Herrett Rimless AR 15 upper (trimmed back 6.8 SPC case) as well
I created a separate post in the Testing section of the forum and will update that thread with target and velocity numbers when I can get to the range again. First run to the range was for function testing. next will be for more data.Good stuff Bruce, keep the group informed.
I should have my 22 Nosler today(different direction) and am excited to do some load developement.
So have ya decided??I am considering building another, perhaps my final, bolt action rifle. It will be built on a small or medium action and I am hoping for a weight at or under 6~6.5 pounds, fixed sights and wood stock. The purpose of this rifle is a coyote or varmint rifle but mostly just a rifle to carry while walking in the woods or fields.
The two cartridges I am considering are the 30 Carbine or the 30 Apache. On another forum I was told the 30 Carbine can only be used in the M1, the 30 Apache is just made up, I really need a ______, and why do I want alight weight bolt action.
So, please, try and stay close to the question or not. Both cartridges will be reloaded and I would like to use cast bullets about 125 - 140 grains.
Considering either the Savage Varmintsr or maybe the CZ 527. Could also be talked into a single shot.
I have a heavy 22 Hornet, Springfield 1922, and a heavy 222 Magnum, Remington 722. Also a 6.5x55, Swedish Mauser. Not looking for a deer rifle but ....
Thanks,
Kevin

Ill re enforce the suggestion of a 300 BO. (But a 7.62x39 would do equally as well)
I just love the lil 300. Accurate miserly on powder and very light recoil. Subs are a blast too even WO A moderator.
I just shot a ladder yesterday with a MP 314-140 HP and aa1680 For cast it shot Very well!! But you can see by my acc test lod it can really shoot better than ya would think. If ya have been doing this long aughta blow your mind that 400$ buys ya a HONEST 1/2 MOA RIFLE!!
70~77gr bullets are my "target" weights. Going to start with some 55gr because I don't have the heavier weight pills in hand. Cast sometime later.I created a separate post in the Testing section of the forum and will update that thread with target and velocity numbers when I can get to the range again. I'm looking forward to seeing what you find with the 22 Nosler. Are you going to be developing a load with 69 or 75gr cast lead bullets also?

I will try and fond the thread where I read about the conversion. There are some Remington rimfire rifle wih a multi lugged bolt which can be used. I think Ed Harris used a Model 788 but that is heavier than I want to go.Can you share data sources for the Rem rifles ?
I've toyed with a 22 mag to 25 ACP for some time . Should be as "simple" as a barrel and FP adjustments for a single maybe even a mag fed with very close rim dia .
