Far more often than not--the people that rip us off--assault us--and kill us are known to us. Home intrusion robberies often don't involve strangers, either.

Across a bedroom or down a hallway, shot size doesn't matter. It will be a rat-hole wound up to 10 yards away, irrespective of shot size. #7-1/2 trap loads would do similar damage. I can't use the turkey loads in CA any more to hunt with, and they would be a bit much for trap or skeet (and probably disallowed by club regs). So--they become felon repellent.

I had the "opportunity" to examine the results of a close range 12 ga. shotgun wound. 2 3/4" 1 1/4oz of #5 lead. A complete and total decapitation. Left only the stub of the neck. Shotguns at across the room range are effective.

Well, the King Cobra got back from Frank Glenn yesterday. I was like a kid at Christmas opening the box up. Also shipped a mold out to a buyer yesterday, too. Maintenance, thinning the herd, and consolidating. This discussion has been a constructive way to watch and wait. Now I just have to wait for the panic to subside and I can shop for ammo.

Prob'm is, once the Kung Flu panic is over, then the election shoppers will spool up.

I suspect there will be a "window" of favorable buying conditions for firearms stuff between the decline of COVID19 panic and the pre-election panic.
Depending on national conventions, selection of running mates and the timing of the next mass shooting that the media will exploit - it may be a small "window".
My advice is to set aside the money for firearms related items and be ready to pounce when that window opens up. In the meantime, keep adding to the money allocated for those purchases.

yep.
I have advised many people to be buying stuff over the last couple of years and to watch for prices to come down then load up on things quickly when they do.
the prices had just barely started to get to the sale point and the shelves emptied out again.

Sorry you had to witness that Rick, I have also, and for sure a memorable event.

I may skip the step of loaded ammunition just for range and case generation. I can get 500 Starline 357 brass for a good price, and I have most of the other components in place. That means I just need 100 rounds or so for SD. Then I can get a .359 Star die and I'm off to the races.

Since I have officially sanctioned the hijacking of my own thread, does anyone have any experience with Blue Dot, or Ramshot True Blue in the .357 with cast lead? I have B'eye, Unique, Saeco #382, Lyman 358416, and 358495. Both Lymans single cavity, of course.

The SAECO #382 is my most used bullet in 38 Special. It is close in form to the Lyman 358477 or RCBS 38-150-SWC and is pretty much a classic SWC.
I can't help you much in the .357 Magnum territory, When I step up to magnum loads I use jacketed bullets and H-110. I don't have any lower velocity 357 rounds. To keep my logistics simple if it's in a magnum casing it's a magnum cartridge.
