Another dead soldier (one pot of coffee down)

We use Diet Coke at work to clean the toilets when we're out of Jim Beam.

Coffee I can drink one cup or three pots a day, same effect (I enjoy it). However, zero cups a day will result in a splitting headache that not even hydrocodone will touch (found that one out when I had wisdom teeth pulled, morning of third day, had forgotten to drink any). A 12-ounce glass of iced tea will keep me up for 12 hours straight, and two glasses gives me the jitters, so I can confirm the experience that there's something different about the vehicle of delivery.

Caffeinated "Sodie waters" do me about like coffee, but I don't drink them often anymore.

Day three, and I'm ready to start taking hostages... green tea isn't helping my mental focus, and even Coke is letting me down. Am I doomed to sit in the corner, drooling uncontrollably with my eyes fixed wide in terror?

I work for a company based near Verona Italy, so coffee is a topic of serious contemplation around here.
We have an expresso machine in the kitchen, (About a 1500$ job, grinds the beans, can froth milk for cappuccin, do your taxes, the whole shebang)
This would be our third type of machine. The last one died after 18 months of service, after dispensing about 22K espressos. It has a counter to monitor usage, prompting maintenance items, etc etc.
Anyway, around September last year, I developed arthritis in my sternum, and learned quickly that coffee can aggravate it, so I had to switch to tea.
I can still imbibe on occasion, but only rarely! Luckily I never guzzled it like my boss (Italian), about 6-8 double espressos a day.
cheers!

I have been a coffee drinker my entire life. Couldn't do w/o it. And I like it simple black, and dark roast. When I was in college, IT degree, and all nighters programming, used to have to go off for awhile due to the shakes. Scary when I figured out what it was. In the Army in Germany, at one time I was drinking 3 pots a day solo (30 yrs ago). Cut back to a pot a day. Then, about 5 yrs ago, caught myself drinking way too much. SInce then, I limit myself to 2 cups a day - period. Nowadays I have become a coffee snob. At only 2 aday, I refuse to drink bad coffee. Son got me 4 bags of Black Rifle Coffee for Christmas. All I had was a Keurig. So I splurged and bought a French Press. Loving it. And drinking black tea in the afternoon as I type this!

I drank Diet Coke for a long time. All I will say is it can be bad for you. But, heck, what ain't? Lol
There was a point in my life that I thought you had to drink whiskey mixed with some thing. I have learned that to be false. If you have to mix it with something, I don't care for it. Kinda like smoking flavored cigars.
Coffee. I am on a kick of craft beers. Can't hardly stomach the old flavorless regulars. Like drinking fizzy water. There are several craft beers brewed with coffee that I really like.

I am NOT a Cola drinker. Maybe one every 3 months or so. When I was in college, there was a big overweight guy. Drank prob a 6 pack of 16 oz bottled cokes a day. Somebody asked him if he knew how much acid was in it? He had no clue, or sugar, etc. So we put a 16 penny nail in a bottle one night. Next morning, there was just a 2" pyramid of dissolved metal where the nail had been night before. Never forget it. Hardly drank any Cola since.

Coke uses the same acid used in almost the same dilution as is used to etch aluminum for paint to stick . I keep a couple in the trucks , it's more convenient and less damaging to the battery when you need to clean up a post/cable in the boonies than baking soda .
