Neither my Garand nor 03A3 cared for IMR 4895, and IMR 4064 was never available locally. It wasn't till I found Accurate's 4064, on a trip to Washington State, that the Garand's accuracy improved dramatically. The 03A3 favors IMR 4831.

I finally found a use for IMR 4895 -- the .223 Ruger American Rifle with 55-grain FMJBTs.

I have most of an 8# caddy of IMR-4320 on hand, so I'll be all right for a while. I have no idea if one of IMR's new lines of powders will fill the void or some less-effective propellant will have to be press-ganged into the role.

Never tried PB for anything. Heard it was a decent shotgun powder. Never knew anyone who used it.
Except for one guy who's guns blew up a lot.

PB was great stuff for some of the pistol cartridges and reduced rifle loads. I for one used a lot of itand miss it.

My second centerfire rifle was a 220 Swift. IMR 4064 was the powder of choice until I went to a progressive press with a powder measure.

I had ZERO experience with PB powder until recent years. About 5 years ago a GREAT STORE in Eureka, NV (Raine's Market) had two 1# flasks on sale for low pricing, so I snagged them and a couple 1#ers of IMR 4064 as well--the latter does good stuff in 22-250, and I knew enough about PB to trust it for 38s and 45 ACP. I am about halfway through the first pound of PB, and it works fine but offers no advantage over WW-231/HP-38 as far as I can see. With WW-244 now-ascendant, gotta wonder about WW-231's status. I know zero/zip/nada about 244.

Raine's is a store that could bankrupt people that like the things most of us here have a passion for. I'm not sure if I go to Eureka 1-3 times a year to hunt varmints or to shop at Raine's, but both events happen on every visit. Their guns/ammo/reloading components section rivals many gunshops, and their hardware section is VERY comprehensive and takes up about 1/3 of the store's floor space. Raine's moved out of downtown a few years ago to a very nice newly-built facility about 2 miles NNE of downtown along U.S. 50. If you happen to take a trip down "The Nation's Loneliest Highway" (U.S. 50) through Nevada, Raine's Market is definitely worth a stop. They are a grocery and convenience store, as well.

Just looked Raine's up on Google Maps. Man, that place is beyond the middle of nowhere.
Lonely? George Gobble probably lived there.

PB has been my 32/20 lead plinker powder for decades. Luckly it's just a tiny splash needed so Its lasted me long time. (Im still using the metal tins) I also dont shoot the 32/20 since falling deep in the rabbit hole Labeled 300 black out.;)

Still working out the 4th powder . Unfortunately I have to find a replacement for 4756 in 12ga steel loads . I'm still trying to find something between H322 and 4198 . 10x it did what I needed but ...... you know how sometimes something just doesn't feel right and I don't know if I just didn't see any or it isn't used in 45-70 .

Fortunately Unique and 4350 take care of everything save 222 , 223 , 6.8 , and the 45-70 for full power/jacketed .
I use Alliant Steel for my steel shot loads. I shoot 15/16 ths of an ounce of #3 shot over 36/37 grains of Steel. I no longer miss my old 1 1/4 oz. of lead 4's.

1-1/16 oz of 1 or Bs , CSD 118 in Fiocchi cases ......34 gr(?) 4756 W209 . Advertised 1470 fps . You're 100% right ! Nothing like 27gr of Unique and 1-1/4 oz of lead or 29 with 1-1/8 oz .

LOL! That is exactly its principal attraction, being a long way from crowds of people. It's my Respite From Kalifornistan.

Any one hear 4320 was discontinued?

CW

Well, CRAP. IMR-4320 is THE powder for 9.3 x 62. All 27 of us still using the stuff will be very disappointed, just like the 32 of us that loved SR-4756 in 32/20 revolvers.
Better make that 28 , it's all I shoot in my .243's . I bout cried when they dumped W680 and I got caught short but I still have 3 unopened 8 pounders and about 6 pounds in another of 4320 so I wont be running out in this lifetime .

I try to keep reasonable quantities of powder on hand but I don't like to have excessive amounts (there's only so much you can shoot and there's the risk of loss due to some unforeseen problem). The reality is, I probably have more on hand than I could use over many years.

If a powder were to be discontinued, it would be a few years before I noticed, but I would be in serious trouble when I did notice.
