I think the Lapua takes a .334 it will slug up no problem with a bottle of powder behind it.

I can't say that I've ever heard anyone talk about shooting cast in the 338 LM.....

That's 'cuz they're chicken. :D

I'd have to try paper-patched bullets in it at least once, I really think it would do well. Water-quenched COWW with no extra tin, two wraps of cotton Vellum, smear it with a little Felix lube.... a mould something like this: http://accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=34-196EB-D.png

You could pay for the mould in about 50 rounds.

I recall someone shooting cast in their 50 BMG and having pretty good luck with it too.

My wife is only a pharmacy tech, not a Pharmacist...:D:rolleyes:
Is she really?

And those of us who have it can easily run data for you. Need case volume in gr of water, bullet length, your case length, and length of loaded round with bullet in question. Can easily run numerous powders and charges. QL also can list charges in increments in any range imaginable. Being able to see what happens when Unique is increased .5 gr at a time from say 15 to 25 gr. Shows expected peak pressure and predicted velocity.

Damn you Brad. You have me looking at molds I never thought I'd need to buy because the 338 is a jacketed rifle only!...o_O:eek:

Where would a guy even start with load data with this cartridge and cast?

Easy, with paper-patched bullets:

1. Refer to copper-jacketed, lead core load data of similar bullet weight to your cast bullet.
2. Pick the slowest powder listed for that bullet, or nearly the slowest.
3. Start with the starting load data given, or back off a little below that and make it up with lightly-stuffed Dacron.
4. Once you get that established as safe and have your powder volume particulars in relation to the case body/shoulder junction, we can discuss how much to reduce the load for granulated poly buffer.

I don’t need you “enablers” making me look at molds for a caliber I told myself I’d never shoot cast in. Damn you!:)
You guy are the worst. :D:eek::oops:
