Mother nature's use of camouflage.

Years ago I was falling timber in WA and worked with this big old boy from NC. He went back home to cut plantation pine in the winters, said there were tons of copperheads. The first guy on the job in the morning would take a small dozer and plow the pine straw between the rows from the days' cut. Could then see the snakes on the black dirt. He invited me down to work, but just had this nagging feeling it wouldn't be fun.

At first glance, either a copperhead or a hognosed snake. A little short on red for most of the Cuheads I have seen, head way too narrow. Hognosed snake, but would like a better shot to
be 100% certain.

Love hognosed snakes, academy award winning actors. Fun stuff, for sure.
