Jim, have you ever considered a pure soft lead round ball load for your 30-30? About 3 gr of BE would probably be a good place to start.

that or a little 90-95gr swc or rn boolit designed for the 32-20 or thereabouts.
those work pretty well in the rifles on top of 2 or so grs of powder.

Even the Hornady staged 32 swc would work well in a 30-30 or -06.

I shoot a lot of the little Lee 90 Gr SWC in my 30-30 with 3 gr BE It all comes down to sound! I still think 22 rimfire subsonics are quieter At least for a "day time" culling job!

In lieu of going NFA and building a good flashlight suppressor on the cheap, what about a cross bow? You can pick up one of those for a couple hundred or less and use hunting bolts.

There's a little older gal (75) over in town that shoots stuff with a 22. She lives right in town with houses all around. She said if you just shoot once there is no problem because people can't tell where it comes from. She is also very careful about the shots. I'm just glad to not have to worry about the neighbors.

Exactly what I do! Get inside quick and watch the TV...wait to see if anyone knocks on your door!

I have shot 3 fox in my yard at dusk ( all within a 3 month span!) Using CCI .22 Velocitors They do make quite a "Crack" & All dropped on the spot; but I just went into the house after the shots. Always wondered what the cops would say if they came a'knocking seeing a piled up fox in the back yard!

Turns out it was just a little 4ft bull snake but it was extremely excited and whatever it was on made rattle noise ......
I grits fire form occasionally in the garage and nobody seems to get excited.
