New 9MM

Was at Cabela's a few weeks back, and they had the Tarus PL111 on sale for a bit over 250.00. Went home, did a little research, watched a couple of videos, and decided to give it a try. With Tax, and Mil discount, total came to $256.00. So far have put only about 100 rds thru the pistol, with no problems, and no malfunctions.
Trigger is a bit heavier than I would like, but not excessive. Came with 2 Mags, (12 rounds), and fits my hand quite well. Know that there are good and bad reports on Tarus, particularly the first generation. Would appreciate comments on the 111 if others on the fourm have experience with same.

My wife has one . She likes it a lot . I have shot it a couple of times and I really like it . Thinking about getting one to replace the glock 19 for cc.

Sounds fun, Paul. I had a Taurus 9mm (millennium pro, I think) many years ago. Was ammo picky & I didn't know how to fix it at the time so, traded it off. It performed fine with certain ammo.

I have the reamer now if yours has throat issues. I think Anthony has one or something similar.

Hard to sneeze at a 9mm for that price.

My experience with Taurus is not positive. LGS quit carrying them, way too many broken on first or second
range session - they are a gun store and range. Taurus would not permit them to trade out the guns as warranty,
insisted the owner ship gun to Brazil, wait three months for repairs. After the umpteenth time, the owner
dumped remaining stock at sale prices and will not handle them. A friend's PT1911 started hammer following badly - unshootable
at the 200-250 rd mark. Detailed inspection caused me to recommend replacing all small parts with Ed Brown.
I assembled and fitted the parts to original frame, bbl and slide. Also kept mag release, bushing, firing pin and firing pin stop.
The gun has run reliably for 3 years now, in regular use. Not a fan.

Perhaps they have improved their quality.

He should shoot his printer?:(

I have never fired a Browning HP but always thought they were a very good looking handgun. I know Khornet well and this is way beyond what he would spend.

Could remedy that, next time your in the neighborhood.

I know Khornet well and this is way beyond what he would spend.

IIRC, paid $379, for a new HP, in the mid 70's. That was the second handgun, I purchased. The first, was my 6" Royal Blue Python. That was also, just under 400 dollars. You could shoot that, as well........

Had a Browning HP a number of years back, fine weapon, but I made a hundred
dollars on a trade, and at the time that was a lot of money. Sure wish I had
kept the Browning however.

I have an FN made HP. I'm not real impressed with the 9mm for a lot of reasons, but the gun is a fine piece of kit. A .45 built like a HP would be the berries in my book.

At the range we go to you have to have a 9mm...well, maybe not but, it just makes sense due to the obscene amount of brass everyone leaves lay.

Plus I'm casting & shooting 9mm for less than 22lr at pre-king zero prices.

now if we could get primers back down to pre-klinton prices, shooting would be economical again.
I was going through the primer cabinet the other day and seen how they jumped from 11.99 to 14.99 to 19.99 then to 24.99 and finally to 29.99.
there was no steps in-between, just incremental jumps of about 20-25%.

I bought a 9mm mostly because my wife won't shoot the 45 ACP and my kid scares me when she shoots it. I grow weary of watching rounds impact halfway to the berm.

Freebullet does have a point. 9mm brass is all over the place at the range. It is also dirt cheap to purchase. The lead and powder savings are nice too.

The last primers I bought were CCI 41s from MiWall at one of the Reno shows . I think they were $21/1000 . About that same time #200s ,450s and 400s came back 300s dropped off and I hadn't seen a 41 in 6 months before that or since ......I'm not paying $54/1000 for them where I did see them last week , which is the 1st time I've seen them in way over a year . Except those I bought at the show. They've been $22-26 for 20 yr except the little temper tantrum of the last 6-7 yr were $36-44 was the norm , most places have them down to 26-8 now .

I'm contrary. I have no use for the 45 ACP and have never considered one. Now, 45 LC is a whole nother ballgame.

I've got a BHP..it's like a Sea Gull ..it will eat anything, and do it with a smile..accurate too...BTW they aint $379.00, new or use anymore...
mine's the High Blue one or some such thing.."T" model maybe...they were turning them into race guns a few years back (15 or so :))

'course I also got the a full size 1911 9mm as a back up...it's a little more finicky in what it eats..but dang it feels good..great for IDPA..ya I know it's a little heavy..
but all the controls are where they are SUPPOSE to be..:)

kinda like the one for the desert eagle 44 mag I bet...:D

I am surprised someone hasn't bothered to build a nice target gun in the 9mm round.
I know it is used as such in Europe.
you'd think the Americans would be all over a small combustion chamber like that and work over some brass and chambers and stuff.
